One thing I'm sure most of these people didn't think about is the effect on their jobs. It's not just the people who lose jobs because they get publicly outed and the employer fires them because the employer doesn't want the hassle.

When you start thinking of all of the jobs that require either a license or some sort of background check where things like felonies are disqualifying events, you're going to get a lot of people who discover they made some very bad decisions.

Good thing the Institutions held. We all knew an Insurrection would happen at the Capitol (they happen all the time) and our Government held itself together like no other on planet Earth. Institutions holding is the bedrock of American Democracy.

Will we be ready for the next BLM or Code Pink protest? Lord knows those protests are the real problem.

So I don't care at all if all of these people lose their jobs. They should all be discharged from wherever they work and not qualify for unemployment.

And the great irony of many will be that they will be force to live off of government subsidies. Maybe- I had thought that the racists tried to pass assistance restrictions to not let criminals benefit. Wouldn't that be rich- get convicted, lose their jobs, and then not qualify for support thanks to the right. War on crime.

Huh. It looks like Amazon, Google, and Apple actually killed Parler.

If you had Gigantic Soulless Corporation on your Bingo card for most effective combatant against Nazis... welp...

Guess maybe they gotta go out and get their own servers. I hear there's one in Ukraine they can use.

And BTW Kep, Nazis aren't good for the bottom line. Almighty dollar always triumphs.

The question is do they face any special treatment over what a normal person would face. We know that retired military can be called back and court martialed. It would be interesting to see the former military thrown into their jails for an extended amount of time...

If they were reinstated and court martialed for sedition the maximum punishment is death. It would appear treason, mutiny and sedition are treated the same.

Article 94 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

That is only true right now. They were great for the bottom line until the insurrection. They will be again by the Midterms for some companies.

The unique charges the cops will receive is early retirement. The unions are so strong nothing will happen to them.

Still, gonna suck that a lot of them won't be getting that cushy pension after 20 years on the job. Will actually still have to work a shit job at 45 like everyone else.

Don't let her resign, court martial her. The military violation of their oath is pretty obvious. Send her to military prison.

She resigned her commission. Still on active duty while the paperwork makes its way through channels.

They should just not accept her resignation, and court martial her instead.

But they have to have served the time in order to get the pension. Any of these younger cops not eligible for pension yet, but were counting on being 20 year guys are gonna be really disappointed.

I’m sure most vest much earlier than 20 years. It isn’t the full amount but they’ll get something. They have union groups that will look after them as well both financially as well as setting them up with other work.

Yeah, I'm sure it's different in every state, but right now in Minnesota if you were hired as a cop (or I think any public employee) after 2014, you have to work 10 years to be vested. If you were hired between 2010 and 2014, it's only five years (those guys are already vested, obviously). If you were hired before 2010, it was 3 years. So basically, the only cops from Minnesota who'd have to worry would be those hired after 2014. They don't have 10 years in yet, but anyone hired before is vested.

But, if you were hired in 2010 and get fired now, your benefits aren't going to be nearly what they would have been if you'd worked for 25 years or something.

Who can we contact to suggest that the military very much prosecute any military who participated in the insurrection?

edit- so I went to Defense.gov and sent a contact email to them.

Just asking that they prosecute any military involved to the letter of the law that defines being in the military- active or retired. Not sure if anyone will pay attention. But it's better than nothing.
