Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

Re: Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

Jan will bend over this weekend and take it like a woman... and surrender 4pts to the Gophers.

Re: Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

Another easy sweep for the Huskies. In fact, 2 routs. Big scoring. Big boners.

I watched the Thorson and Christian replays over and over on DVR. The Thorson was a nice two handed sweep check by the North Dakota defender, got all puck but then the momentum took it back across the left knee/thigh of Thorson because he was going all out. The across the knee forced him into a headfirst dive on his shoulder.

The Christian hit the North Dakota defender was trying to keep the zone, the puck was just outside his reach so he went down -all fours- leaning headfirst and arm extended forward to keep it in at the blue line-poke check it in- he kept it in. Christian was coming out hard to get it out of the zone. It looks like the combination the lunging forward to keep it in and Christians flying/running forward it was just like the Adrian Pederson hit. A shoulder to just inside and below the knee. I've never liked tackling below the knee and this one didn't look good either. I hope he is ok and isn't major being a senior and all."

Someone mentioned he was on crutches the next day. No word on the exact injury.

nick larson is out for the gophers with a broken wrist.

what players are already ruled out for st cloud?

Re: Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

Thorson(shoulder) Christian(knee) and Drew Leblanc(broken leg) out.
Morley -Fresh F hasn't played all season - concussion last yr in juniors.

Reid(to Portland Winterhawks World Juniors) and MacMillan (to North Dakota starting Jan 2013) left the team.

Rehkamp was added mid-season. Very fast.

Playing with 10 forwards.
Might have 1 or 2 D playing forward this weekend.

Lee at goalie is a possible (lower body injury).

Thorson & Christian for sure. Thorson looked liked he dislocated or separated his shoulder. It looked like it was out to me. Hopefully not. I expect Leblanc to still need another 2 weeks or more before he is ready. We are pretty skinny at Forward right now and Bob will have to get creative to get through this weekend and come out with some points. Always enjoy this series.

I'd like to see Faragher start in net even if Lee is ready. Nice to have him available though in case Faragher struggles.

Re: Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

Educated guess says Thorson/Christian likely out til' after the final bye week in February. Lee is ready and may play. LaBlanc has numerous possibilities that go from back late this year, to red shirt and back next year, to signed and off to the pro's. Whatever happens, one hell of a quality kid who has been as solid a captain off the ice during this as he was on. As far as the upcoming series goes, you play with the hand you are dealt. Huskies will need to finish off opportunities better than the last couple of weekends. Lots of grade a's, but not enough goals. Same old story to win..... goaltending and special teams. Go Huskies!!!!!!

Re: Gophers-Huskies Home and Home Jan 27-28

If the Huskies win with two routs, it's boners all around.

I wouldn't be able to stand up for two weeks.

I might make it to the game on Friday. Thus, I will have attended more Gopher games this season than Hoven or Bakunin.
