Re: Gold Pan Game 2 - Denver at CC - Friday - 12/2/11 - National TV on CBS Sports Net
CC wins on an overtime penalty shot, 4-3. Just a really outstanding college hockey game. The two goal tenders were marvelous. IMHO, Howe's the first star of the game. He stoned DU half a dozen times. JZ played a brilliant game.

It's weird... only a few seconds before the penalty shot was awarded, I was thinking about how right it was that the game would end tied, and not go to some fraudulent penalty shootout. Then it was ended with a penalty shot, and I loved it. I don't think those are incompatible thoughts. They're just so much better when earned in the run of play.

We had our chances. Boy, did we have our chances. But Howe was able to come up big over and over again. DU's gonna have to shake this one off and get ready for the road the rest of the month.

Heck of a hockey game played with the intensity of two rivals. Wow. Although we came out on the short end, that was a D-A-M-N great hockey game to watch. Get 'em next time Pios!!!

Just got back from the game. This is college hockey at its best !! Great game by both teams. DU's top line is one of the best I have seen all year. Zucker was dangerous every time he was on the ice. Howe made some HUGE saves down the stretch and really was the difference. CC was the better team in overtime and I do think the call on the penalty shot was correct. He was in the clear. Gutsy call by the refs though.
Congrats to both teams for playing a hard fought terrific game!
