How is this story not leading the news?

About 70 hostages facing “imminent mass execution” have been rescued from an Islamic State jail in a raid by Kurdish troops and US special forces in northern Iraq, according to US and Kurdish officials.

One member of the US force was killed during the operation on Thursday morning, the Pentagon said. This was be the first US combat fatality on the ground in the fight against Isis in Iraq and Syria, and the first since US troops withdrew from Iraq in 2011.

The raid targeted a makeshift Isis prison near the town of Hawijah after US and Kurdish forces received reports that the hostages “faced imminent mass execution,” the Pentagon said.

I don't have cable or satellite TV, and I saw clips of the hostage rescue run repeatedly on TV up through this past Sunday. Though reading the proclamation that Pres. Obama is looking to put more boots on the ground in direct combat roles against ISIS should really have gained more traction and debate in the news media rather than just the two or three passing comments I saw.

Great...but how is that relevant here? We arent killing one guy with a Seal team these guys are going in to actually fight. (unless you buy they are just coordinating in which case I got a bridge to sell ya)

We have to get out of the Middle East...this boondoggle is costing way too much and accomplishing nothing...well nothing good.

ISIS is claiming responsibility for shooting down a Russian jetliner with 237 aboard. I would rethink that. The Russian Bear is not one to make threats or draw lines in the sand.

The Northern Sinai is not a safe place to be right now.
