I think you're confusing Obama's American opponents funding Bibi (which really does happen).

Herzog (not the movie one or the baseball one) actually said in his closing argument that one of the biggest reasons to vote against Bibi was that he was alienating Israel's allies. I'm pretty sure he meant us.

Looks like the polls close at 4 pm ET. I haven't seen any exit polling so presumably a ton of data is going to drop then. I don't know how quickly Israel counts its votes, but we probably won't know anything definite for a while because (1) either way it's supposed to be close, and (2) Israel has a million political parties and their coalition formation is really complicated.

This could be the beginning of the third Israeli political system, however. From the foundation to 1977 the left ran the show. Since 1977 it's been the far and center right in charge almost all of the time, even at times when they lacked a majority in the Knesset (like I said, complicated), and despite a huge split in Likud about a decade ago. There is an Arab coalition that may swing the election to Herzog's center-left (which is really the equivalent of a European center-right party but Israel is basically Arizona in terms of its political spectrum: middle, dumb, and dumber). Plus there are far right religious parties that sound like some Jewish equivalent of AQ, and they've probably been responsible for driving more Israeli moderates to the left than even Bibi.

I'm sure some of them are. Maybe Scott Steiner? I don't think Ted DiBiasi is. Hulk Hogan?

Never thought of the NWO as being Jewish, but I guess you did have a guy like Scott Steiner as a member, so who knows?

I'm curious how Netanyahu runs on a security platform when 1) Israel is less secure than when he took over, 2) its relations with just about everybody are worse thanks to his diplomatic blunders, and 3) his arch enemy is closing in in nukes while he sits around with his thumb up his rear end trying to kiss butt with an American political party that's been outvoted in 5 of the last 6 Presidential elections.

I'm not familiar with domestic Israeli concerns so perhaps he has an in on other issues. By any fair measure though the guys seems like a failure as a leader.

Netanyahu ahead so far

They may be Jewish by inheritance, but they don't support defending Israel.

That doesn't disprove anything. Being associated with a religion by birthright does not guarantee your practising of it.

Given how few Israelis trust Obama, based on polls in recent years, I'd bet some of the Israeli public would put their trust in folks like Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner, and Scott Hall before they'd trust Obama.

Good thing that our relations are no more important with them than it is with a dozen or so other countries.

Certainly we have a number of important allies, including Israel. Nothing new there. But to have important allies where are large chunk of the populace doesn't trust our President is not a good thing, generally speaking.
