I will admit that I have a pathological hatred of how the character has transformed over the last half century from an interesting "the ultimate detective" to a boring and frightening "fascist but you're not supposed to notice cuz he's American, BOOYAH!"

I can think of no other metaphor for the suicide of American morality than what's happened to Batman.

Well. Maybe Jersey Shore.

clearly imperialism.... etc. The world's on fire... but that's an impolite topic and we know its a capital offense to be impolite.

It's one thing to call out those responsible and what might be (almost certainly is) motivating them, but it's something entirely different if you're living in fear of them.
