Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

I got an email from my old mortgage company saying I had a statement available. So I attempt to log on to look at it, and got locked out of my account. I called customer service and explained that my account was locked. She asked for my loan number, which I didn't have. I explained what happened, and she said "once your loan is sold, you can't log on to access your old loan information anymore". I asked why I got an email about a statement that I can't see, and she said "oh, everyone got that email". oh, well, then. She said if I call back with my loan number, they can mail it out. um, shouldn't you automatically mail it out to those who cannot receive it electronically? I guess that is asking way too much.

another fun note: the system let me change my password while my account was locked. THAT seems really safe. :p
If any company sends me an email that says something along the lines of "you have a new message in your ______ inbox" I ignore it. If they can't send it to my actual email address, or my house, it must not be important enough for me to see.

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

Actually, no, they shouldn't just mail out the form. Simply put, now that you're not their customer, they don't know if you've moved or still reside there. Sending it to that address could put your information security at risk, and lenders are very leary of doing that due to potential lawsuit and reputation risk.

Hmm....interesting quandary as we transition from paper to electronic.

if it is a tax form (mortgage interest statement) it's needed to complete IRS Schedule A (assuming itemized deductions). Not sure if those are supposed to be snail-mailed or not.

people do move email addresses from one ISP to another and they aren't always forwarded while physical mail at least IS forwarded for a period of time.

My mortgage company offers the option of either printing the tax forms from their site or snail mail, depending upon options you choose. They push for online publishing, for obvious cost reasons, and that's what I've chosen. Actually, I've done this for all of my varying accounts that have tax implications and calculated my taxes last weekend. We can't file them until February 1 "because of the government shutdown", but we can still get prepared to either collect our refunds early or prepare our accounts to make payment later.

Until it's from your new student loan servicer saying you need to send in your tax returns because your form allowing your old servicer to automatically get your tax info didn't carry over but the forms allowing auto payments and all electronic communications did. Then you ignore it, your income based repayment plan ends because they didn't have your tax info, and you suddenly have $1000 withdrawn rather than $400 that you were expecting.

(Didn't happen to me, just two of my closest friends. It's a reason I never allow auto payments directly from my bank account for anything.)

I don't allow auto payments either. I have some setup in billpay, but they're on my end, and I control the amount and timing of payments.

"We sincerely apologize...."

That grinds my gears.

"I apologize if anyone was offended by my rude, thoughtless, insensitive remarks."

Right, you are not at all sorry for actually saying them, just that other people didn't like it.

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

I'm sitting by another throat-clearer (not as bad as the last one, but still - all the time). So I googled "annoyed by throat clearing" and felt like a little less of a *****. Apparently it's a relatively common problem to want to bludgeon your co-workers because they can't stop clearing their throats. Unhappily, no one had a good suggestion I can implement to deal with it (besides "get over it" and no other direction).

And this made me laugh out loud: 10 Most Annoying Cubicle Habits from the Houston Press.

The food crunching is just inevitable. Someone is going to buy or bring chips or carrots/celery to work occasionally. You deal with it just like you deal with garlic breath - apologize in advance to the cubes around you.

Everything else is spot on. We started this new chick on the development team this week, and unfortunately she still hasn't had her electronic training kicked off by the "quality" team yet. As a consequence, we can't give her any work yet, so she's been occasionally wandering around to give everyone her life story. As you can imagine being a programmer intern, she's a nerd chick (and not at all in a cute way). Thus far we've heard the entire soap opera about living with her parents, her blind, pothead best friend, how she's anti-feminist (jokes about telling other women to cool their t*ts, making herself a sandwich, etc.). If not for an alleged boyfriend, I'd say she's a confirmed lesbian.

The faster her manager gets her some projects, the better for all of us. Fortunately, she's shadowing the midget, ginger, ex-intern who was recently promoted to full-time, so he's had to deal with her for the most part. ;)

Posts about annoying coworkers make me glad I work by myself. I sometimes bring my dog with me but he rules so....

can I come to your office and punch her in the face?

If you can navigate to the mixing bowl of Telegraph Rd, I-696, Northwestern Hwy, and M-10/Lodge Fwy, then she's all yours. :D

We pride ourselves on being a "young company", and I think she's a bit too young for the company profile. I know she's either 18 or 19 because she told me yesterday, "I think I might be the youngest person here." I said, "Well, I'm not sure about that, since some of our helpdesk people might be younger", and she said, "Well, how many of you are younger than 20?"

So we've got a young college girl on a team of people who are at least 25. Great.

Get off on Northwestern Hwy/11 Mile from Telegraph and avoid most of it. :)

At least that's how I used to get to work.

My building is right off the Lasher exit of 696, so I get all of Telegraph's traffic, with none of the benefits.

My odometer just hit 30. I'm the youngest person in my department by 10 years, most are 20-25 years older.

I still hate Comcast. Every time I've moved there has been a back and forth about my owning my modem, and thus they should not charge me a modem rental fee. It typically takes a few months to clear up. Well, I've been in my house for 4 years now, using my modem, and get a letter "there's been a mistake in your billing, we haven't been charging you a modem rental fee, expect to see this fee on your next bill". Arrgghhh! Can anyone suggest a good internet provider? I'm sick of the cost and bs of Comcrap.

Throat-clearing is often lumped into what I call, "old man noises". Sorry to those I'm offending, but I have had co-workers who wheeze, cough, throat clear, hack up lungs, blow their nose all the time, or snort it up. Most of these people are old men. The noises are not illness related, they are constant.

I tried it in Firefox and it was the same. I was hoping to avoid deleting history and cache cause there is no reason this should be happening.

vbulletin sucks :p

Deleted history and cache and I am still stuck in mobile. this is beyond annoying...
