Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

Mr. will be going away by himself?
Lil may be going to stay with my father the retired Marine Major. This threat seems to have been the most efficatious- his eyes almost bugged out of his head when I told him I was going to call my Dad and explain the situation and ask him to take Lil for the WE. :evil grin:

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

My kid is grinding my gears. He has a summer project due the first day he goes back to school. He is in honors classes but has the motivation of a flubberworm. Just enough to get by. We have plans to go away for the Labor Day weekend. He needs to be done by Friday night and has practices all week. Kid has no need to accomplish anything. His attitude sucks. So. We are down to no phone, no TV, no computer and no itouch. If it isn't done one of us is staying home so he can finish it. He thinks that we are kidding. Ah...no.
You remind of my parents. :)

At present, negotiating traffic around the U of Minnesota campus is grinding my gears to a pulp.

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

Missing my flight home and having no one to blame but my own GD self, and having to spend almost as much on a one way ticket home as I originally spent on the round trip ticket grinds the ever loving hell out of my gears. I would actually be a lot less irritated if I had someone's stupidity other than my own to blame.

Dodging Penn State students too oblivious to notice a Volvo going through an intersection on a green light while they try to cross the street against the red.

Second that at UML at the bridge crossing. It is a wonder we don't have a fatality every week. People smart enough to be enrolled in college should be smart enough to know that large cars can kill you!

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

At MTU the danger wasn't from the cars, it was the logging trucks - they can't stop in time, so they don't bother trying. One of those hits you when fully loaded, there will only be a smear left. It was often joked about, though I don't recall any fatalities. However, if you were dumb enough to push your luck with a logging truck, you deserved whatever you got.

You went through on a green? There was your mistake! Gotta wait for the yellow at least.

If people aren't aware, the two primary arteries into the U and on the U are completely torn up for light rail construction. Imagine if two of the major arteries into your heart were 90% blocked. Yeah, it's that bad.

Are people that stupid up there?

The two primary arteries? I know Washington is torn up for the light rail and East River Road is closed, but I94 and I35W are open, isn't University still open? The only primary one I know of being affected is Washington, what is the other? I mean 94 is slowed somewhat, but I used it with no problem last week to go to the fair by parking near the stadium.

East of campus, University Ave is completely torn up. Avoid it at all costs.

**** you hippies and your love of mass-transit.

94 and 35 are completely worthless because they don't put you on campus. They put you just off of campus where you have to use Washington, University, or 4th to actually get ON campus. Only 4th is open.

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

Mgmt not realizing that paying 30~ hours OT PER NIGHT is worth not hiring a few more people.

Now, I admit, maybe it's corporate, but you could hire a couple part-timers, and the staff works the same number of man-hours, but only pays straight time, not time-and-a-half, but that's just me. *ing idiots.

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

You know what grinds my gears? 9/11 Conspriacy theorists and conspiracy theorists in general. No matter what logic or facts you give them, there is always another something that they must believe it. So stupid:rolleyes:

Re: Ginding away- stop putting sand in my oil... Part 4

Weeks' worth of 9/11 hype. Now hear me out:

1. It's a horrible day in history. It should be a day we bow our heads and thank (insert whoever) that more people didn't die, and pay our respects to those who did.

2. All these shows that will be broadcast? The networks are doing this to make people think the networks care. They don't. They see ratings. If they cared, they'd have these shows/show the gatherings that will be happening around the nation, without ads for the hour before (lead-in ratings), during, and the hour after (drop-off ratings) the show.

3. Anyone trying to make a buck off of selling something to "commemorate" this terrible tragedy. It sickens me.

The day should arrive, we pay our respects, and the day should pass. I don't see shows/remembrances of the OKC bombing. Granted, much lesser scale, but you mention it, and people say, "Oh yeah, forgot about that."

/end rant
