And Bohemia is about 40 miles north, but has some of the best terrain ever.
We could learn together? :p
Bohemia and learning should not be in the same sentence. You'll get yourself killed if you don't know what you're doing up there. It's awesome. :D

The one in the shorts and the really high socks?
don't remember, he was on our side, next to the conductor chick, playing some kind of horn and he was really into it!!
Bummer dude.

I'm full of random thoughts tonight, here's another one: Where can I go snowboarding around Houghton? And is there someone who can teach me (if I don't go this weekend)?
Tech has a ski hill across the water from campus, someone from school will have to chime in to say if they'll be open or not.

Sorry, definitely didn't mean we should learn at Bohemia. Though, my crazy aunt wanted to teach me there.

and that's definitely the pep band guy I was talking about :p

Are the Misfits still auctioning/selling autographed "goal pucks"?

The last few years, they're kind of like collector's items.

You'll have more than enough fun/pain learning on some of Ripley's terrain. It's not Bohemia (which, by extension, is not "out west"), but it certainly has some of the better groomed terrain in this state, especially for blues and blacks. I was surprised when I started going there as a freshman.

Re: GET IN THE VAN! Michigan Tech 2009-10 Season Thread, Part Deux

Yeah ok, sorry. Being from Fargo, we have to drive a few hours to find any decent hills, so I forget that in Houghton they're readily available!

And yes, ctf, we can learn together! Maybe while we're singing our playlist songs! haha

But in all seriousness, I don't think anyone wants to go with us to teach us, because everyone thinks we're annoying. Which, I will say, we can be, but we're not that bad are we??

I've already "learned" at Ripley about four times. (Ski school back in high school)
Snowboarded maybe four times, skied once.
I was okay at skiing just in that one time.
Snowboarding was taxing as hell, and I never got the hang of the t-bar, furthermore, if I ever did it again, I'd be hitting up the chair lift.

Snowboarding = hard to learn, easier to get good at.
Skiing = easy to learn, harder to get good at.

I'm gonna go make a skiing/snowboarding season thread in the Cafe....

Re: GET IN THE VAN! Michigan Tech 2009-10 Season Thread, Part Deux

You were clearly born in the wrong corner of the world then. :D
I've said that for quite some time now.

Good luck learning how to snowboard on dirt. :p
Well, I figure I should make the best of it...

I don't think we are... Maybe it's just the fact that they're intimidated by the fact that we're girls.

I might be able to offer volume discounts ;) Maybe you can just use them as regular pucks.

I would say I'm going to learn to board, since I already have a board w/ bindings and boots. Might as well make more use of that lovely Experience Tech fee...

Re: GET IN THE VAN! Michigan Tech 2009-10 Season Thread, Part Deux

I can ski, but when I tried snowboarding I hurt for days. I don't even ski very much any more, once each of the last 2 winters and I didn't ski for 5-6 years before that.
