Couldn't find a pets thread so this seemed I guess an ok fit.
We have a Westie named Kody that will turn 15 in December. He is mostly blind, mostly deaf and has diabetes. It's a lot but he's otherwise seemingly happy and not in any pain.
We somehow through the years 'adopted' 3 cats that now live on the backside of the house - which is sheltered from rain and the hot sun. We've had them all spayed and keep them up on their shots regularly, and of course feed them.
A 4th cat that's a stray figured out their feeding time (7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.) and if he comes around we feed him too, but he's mostly out and doesn't hang around unless the weather is bad.
About 4 weeks ago we heard a kitten mewing sadly in the middle of a cold, rainy night. We went to investigate and it was clear based upon how small he was that he had lost his mother.
We brought him and put him in a large carrying cage we have for the night, with a blanket and some milk.
Long story short we named him Eddie (he's mostly white with a small tuft of black between his ears) after our English neighbor Ed who has gray hair.
It was originally our plan to give him away (as we had with others we found) but I dunno he somehow turned into my little buddy and he's now a keeper.
Funny thing is 10 years ago if you asked me if I'd ever have a cat I'd have said emphatically no because I thought I was badly allergic to them.
