I finally watched the Jon Stewart interview with the moron AG of Arkansas. My god. She's... I don't even know what she is. Evil? An idiot?

Stewart's analogy of pediatric cancer was spot on. And she simply didn't understand it and would just stick to her talking points.

I'm going to sound like a tin foil hat wearer....but

She's a focus group figurehead. She is what happens when the people who really control that state's politics need a face to be put in office to do their bidding. She is not making any decision without going past the money donors first. To think she is up there with her own thoughts is simply inconceivable. The GOP just runs public facing idiots while the people in the back run the show. Just look at Walker in Georgia. There is no possible way he is qualified to be a Senator, but there he is, running for the position with the GOP's blessing.

Same thing with Tudor Dixon and John Gibbs in Michigan. No way qualified to be governor or a Congress critter, but she gets that sweet Trump/DeVos/"religious liberty" money to rubber stamp the far-right agenda.
 
John Oliver had a great segment on Last Week Tonight too, especially about the whole "furries and litter boxes in schools" line Republicans are pushing.

This urban legend is like 40 years old. It stupefies me that people hear it and don't immediately say "oh come on, that isn't real".
 
Those guys are not being denied sex by an intolerant society. They are just losers no woman wants to be with.

This is Darwinian. Once you remove women from financial dependence, they drive evolution. This is a good thing. Let it play out.

I'm replaying GTA IV right now, which came out in 2008. On their hilarious (and frighteningly on the nose) right wing talk radio station, one of the sweepers is about the scourge of furries.

Whether it's due to general laziness or untreated mental illnesses, these men are usually choosing some anti-social combination of guns, video/nerd games, sci-fi & fantasy media, booze/pot, and porn over self-improvement, productive/interesting hobbies, and growing up. They literally have nothing to offer that would interest most women. I'm currently witnessing it with my brother-in-law. He's a smart enough guy, could be using his GI bill to earn a degree and better his career & life. Unfortunately, he is somewhat autistic, lacks self-esteem, has poor hygiene, and he just wants to keep baking bagels for $15/hr and being a shut-in. My wife has tried to encourage him - set him up with insurance so he could get therapy & medication, my FIL paid for him to get his teeth fixed, and so on, but it's like dealing with an addict. You can't help someone who doesn't really want help.

I do not understand this, literally. I will readily admit that from 16 to 22 probably the only thing that made me make my bed, do my laundry, and take a shower, was the need to be attractive enough for women to sleep with me. But I did have that need, so I did do those things. And I strongly suspect a majority of all straight men in history were similarly motivated.

Sex drive didn't suddenly go away for young men. So what the hell is stopping these guys? Or is it literally this is the first generation of males where the porn is so freely available and so good that quite frankly why deal with the overhead of attracting women? But if that were the case, they would be happy -- it would be a free choice.

I don't understand. I see young women every day and, although they dress like sh-t, (1) they've dressed like sh-t since the 1970s, and (2) they are still as attractive as they ever were. Probably moreso since they aren't hung up about sex anymore when you get outside Jesusfuckistan.

I think porn has something to do with it. There are so many men who not only don’t know how to please a woman- they don’t even care. They think women in real life are like the porn they watch.

also women don’t need men financially as much anymore- at least not like 40 years ago.

nevermind men not wanting women to have control of their bodies.

but hey now it will be womens fault we have so many incels
 
Sex isn't the psychological drive there. It's companionship and physical contact with another human. Which we need individually. Sex is just one of the more intimate ways to satisfy that need.

I completely agree with DGF. Her post nailed it. Porn is part of the problem, however, because it satisfies our sexual drive without satisfying our need for connection (physical and non physical) it leaves us alone. Now everyone's mileage will vary here.


I also think the other part of the problem is we made sex into a trophy. Without the trophy you're left feeling inadequate, inferior.
