Gender Studies 2: Boogaloo

The University of Oklahoma placed a Teaching Assistant on leave after failing a student on an assignment in a gender studies. The student complained that she was failed because she used the bible as her source, not because it was poorly written and offensive.

It’s also pretty clearly a set up. Student’s mom is lawyer who defended J6 rioters and has deep GOP ties.

This is why Oklahoma is 50th in education. And why Oklahoma is a football school that occasionally dabbles in academics.

Clearly a set up. If I am the TA, I do not grade it at all -- I report up the chain and get backup.

Of course, she may get 10 of these every assignment. OK has the Death Cult bad.

Apparently, Poor Persecuted Christian Girl took the same essay to a cis male professor, who also awarded her no points.

OKC is pretty, though.
Beg to differ. The cornfed women may be as pretty as they are sheltered and dumb, but OKC is sprawling, generic American suburbia. Detroit without the pre-WW2 architecture and cultural melting pot that comes from major industrial booms.

I made a trip to downtown Tucson this past February. I was genuinely surprised by the city. Their children’s museum had my kid thoroughly entertained for about five hours. She would’ve stayed longer if we hadn’t forced her to leave. We headed to the road that was clearly designed for tourists, and the restaurants all looked pretty good. I’d Ave to research to find the one where we ate - tasty fare and they even had good options for our girl.

For its size, the zoo was decent enough, having more warm-weather animals than we have in our zoos up here, for some reason. That certainly added to the enjoyment.

The parts of Seguaro National Park were very beautiful, but I kept looking for rattlesnakes and scorpions the whole time.

Tucson has an invisible dotted line running east-west through the main drag (Speedway). Everything north to Mount Lemon is gorgeous. Everything south to the airport is Gaza.

Fantastic science museum, zoo, and indigenous peoples cultural museum.

Also if you get outside the city some of the best stargazing in the US. Not an accident the city has several excellent observatories, with Kitt Peak just 15 miles out of town.

Also the most dramatic electrical storms I have ever seen. Phoenix aint bad but we are a skillet -- Tucson you can get elevated and really see them.
