Re: Gear Grinding Part 5: The Story of the Broken Tooth

Sports talk radio.

Michigan State is in the Final Four and the half hour I tried to listen between the two GR area stations, one talked about the Lions and the draft for 25 minutes with five minutes of commercials, the other had ten minutes of commercials and had a Michigan football beat writer along with a doctor from one of the health corps that sponsor the show to talk about injuries with the Tigers. There were exactly three mentions of MSU, all by the second station to advertise the watch parties the sponsors were having.

Who are the people listening that are entertained by NFL talk on Final Four/Opening Day/Masters week?

Thumbs up for ignoring basketball. Such a terrible sport.

Re: Gear Grinding Part 5: The Story of the Broken Tooth

having to find a new doctor grinds my gears. I really, really liked my doctor, but she left her practice. not sure if she moved somewhere else, or just quit. I had to look for one a few years ago when my insurance stopped covering mine, and I hated the one I picked. clammy hands. weak handshake. no thank you.
Ask the local pharmacists. They know who is good.

Why should they be talking about BB. Kentucky is going to win it allllll!!!!11!1!!... Oh, wait....

Historical building preservation.

At some time, the thing(s) has to come down.

Re: Gear Grinding Part 5: The Story of the Broken Tooth

Grr. My town has the most embarrassing, stupid lot of people ever gathered in one place. Thankfully Lil les is graduated from the school system. They are further gutting the budget. Already surrounding towns have seen a bounce back but our town hasn't . Property values in the gutter. All because the big wigs don't want to pay taxes so they keep cutting the budget despite an increase in building and population. The kids are getting sent to the local Voke and charter schools in droves (Fully 1/3 of the freshman class left town for Voke or charter school)and we lose 11K everytime a student goes out of the system. We are at the bottom of the state in school spending. The Dipshiz who leads the no taxing charge says it is good to get rid of all these kids, it will cost less. We are paying out HUGE $$. They control the media around here. They smear anyone who tries to run for office.

The latest- the Head of the Board of Select Idiots has had 3 of her animals taken away for neglect and cruelty. One horse 500lb underwt, another 200 lb underwt. Abscesses, etc. She makes a public comment that people are after her because she is a polititian, they should remember she has a child. Makes me sick to my stomach. If shecan leave those animals hock high in their own manure, unfed because she can't get to the barn in the snow, then maybe someone should remember she has a kid and make sure it is fed.

I have no patience for people who can't think past their next breath. Grrr

Phew. That felt good.

So this silly woman couldn't get into her barn to feed, and clean out the horses stalls for several stretches?? I bet she's one of those silly horse owners who can't even handle their animal even though they are always telling it that its a nice horsey. we have a lady like that in our barn and she can't even hardly lead her horses around. she really needs to sell them off.

It is an awful situation. She put a stallion in a stall with a mare and the stallion tried to do what stallions do. He had all sorts of injuries from the stallion trying to pay her attention- absesses on her back, ripped ear, etc. This lady has lived on a farm her whole life and has other animals as well. No excuse for what she did. This wasn't lack of knowledge. This was laziness and neglect. Awful.

Is the humane society in chaoots with the local leadership?

They should want this person in prison.

Dear Lord, was she trying to breed the mare? Or did she just leave the mare and stallion in the stall together? Even taking out the Mare/Stallion out of the equation there, having 2 horses in the tight space of a stall is just going a recipe for disaster. Horses need their space and having another horse in their bubble where they can't escape is just going to leave them fighting.

Option B. This is nominally a farming community (we don't have many farms left and refuse to buy them to preserve them but we still pretend). We don't care about our kids being ignorant and having no education but we seem to care about this. The firestorm is amazing on FB but not much in the paper. She is one of the chosen

Re: Gear Grinding Part 5: The Story of the Broken Tooth

One thing that really leaves me gnashing my teeth is when people who don't quite know what they are doing try to be "helpful" by inserting themselves into a process which is already well-defined and underway.

"When will this be done? what is the status?"

well, it would have been done already if I wasn't forced to respond to your questions first about when it will be done.

or the person who took a carefully-prepared, collated, tagged presentation and shipped it to someone who then shows up in the office looking for it, so that the entire thing has to be replicated again at the last minute.

Finished my run, turned to go in the house, and got stopped by a Jehovah's Witness.

Re: Gear Grinding Part 5: The Story of the Broken Tooth

RC Cola has gone from $1.00 to $1.38.

After years of taking crap from friends for being the only one to drink it, I appear to be their only customer, and I find it insulting they would raise prices on their only buyer by 38%.

Are those 20oz bottles? Still, the cheapest bottles for that size around these parts are minimum $1.50.

Nope, that's for a two liter. I think they have deals with certain distributors, because even when Meijer has had RC for 1.00, I've seen their 99 cent labeled 2L's at gas stations and such.

My favorites tend to go Mexican Coke > Fountain Coke > canned Coke = RC from plastic > Coke from plastic, but since I'm not planning on installing a fountain machine in my apartment any time soon, RC has been the cheapest. Still is, but $1.00 seemed like such a steal.

Frankly the price of pop seems out of control. $1.75 for a 2L of coke is ridiculous.

It's about $1.40 for a 20 oz here in Minneapolis (non-generic). And I'm probably guessing low.

Re: Gear Grinding Part 5: The Story of the Broken Tooth

$1.69 here for a 20 oz Pepsi or Coke.

At Meijer, it's $1.79 for a 20 oz bottle of Pepsi or Coke. It's cheaper to buy a $1.39 32 oz fountain cup and drink from the Coca-Cola freestyle machine.

Re: Gear Grinding Part 5: The Story of the Broken Tooth

If you are paying full retail for pop, you are paying a "sucker" price... Usually name brand 12-packs are on sale 4 for $11-12... Holidays bring out the 4 for $10 sales... Something is always on sale...
