I'm at a complete loss. I honestly have to ask her, "No one has ever taught you to load a dishwasher, huh?"

Or handwash dishes.

I was a dish-rat for a few years as a job, so a dishwasher is a gift to me (family also never believed in having a dishwasher; they had my brother and me). Yeah, taking advantage of that in most cases.

Re: Gear Grinding 7: Really? This crap again?

Our refrigerator/freezer is supposed to have an early warning system if it stops working.

Neither worked. The freezer temperature said 0[SUP]o[/SUP]F, but the ice cube tray was full of liquid water. What a waste! Everything had to be tossed; 12 steaks, 4 - 2# bags of shrimp, bags of chicken parts; hundreds of dollars gone.

At least we noticed in time to move much of the stuff from the refrigerator into the basement mini-fridge.

You didn't notice it? How often do you go into your fridge? The rule of thumb is a fridge works best empty and a freezer works best full. I use the Alton Brown trick of keeping the freezer full by throwing bottles of water and ice packs in there. If I need the room I move them to the fridge. If the entire unit fails and you've kept the freezer full, it should keep for days. Things can thaw but you would notice that days before you'd have to toss anything.

The latest Android release. What have they done to the spellchecker!?

And it seems to drain my battery faster than before.

Re: Gear Grinding 7: Really? This crap again?

Apartment complex "upgraded" the washers and dryers for the "convenience" of the option to pay for laundry by credit card via an app. "Conveniently", the new machines hold less and cost more.

House selling / buying. Is there anything better designed to give you an anxiety attack? Between the time commitment, the sheer dollar values, the ticky tacky negotiations, and the irritation involved... I'm doing this one more time in my whole life, max, I'll tell you that.

OK, here. I wish there was an adjunct profanity dictionary I could just load all at once. It takes all day to type in "cock," add, "cocktease," add, "**********," add, ....

Especially when you include the irritation of moving. There is stuff in my attic that has been untouched for twenty years. I moved it from my former house where it had been in the attic, untouched, for seventeen years.

Hopefully, when it comes time to sell my current house, I will be delusional or dead.

I dreaded moving, and I either had a roommate (2BR apt) or had half a duplex (but had about a 1BR apt worth of stuff). I can't imagine a whole house.

Re: Gear Grinding 7: Really? This crap again?

That's a main reason I didn't want to put the house up for sale and upgrade this spring.

Wait until you think about downsizing. We have toys and stuff from when the kids were young plus the stuff we've accumulated since we moved into the current manse in 1985.

How much stuff gets moved and what gets sold or otherwise disposed of will lead to many interesting conversations.

When my grandpa sold the house he built and lived in until basically the day he died....his Jarts set was sought after. Eldest grandson got that sumbit*.

But I hear ya. We accumulate SO much stuff we don't really need, and/or forget about.....

Re: Gear Grinding 7: Really? This crap again?

I have a houseful of things in MN in a secured room in the basement that we wanted kept away from the renters, countless items in attic, everything we left for the renters to use and then even more things in a storage facility. And I am amazed that despite living in a furnished house in in PH the past 2.5 years how many things we've accumulated here already. When we finally move back to the US I imagine I'll be giving away nearly all of it to charity.

Look. Just because I don't have 38 piles of **** on my desk, that doesn't mean I'm not busy. I'm tired of having my office look like something Sanford and Son would condemn.

Tax season is over. I'm just about done working in an office that looks like a bomb hit it.

Re: Gear Grinding 7: Really? This crap again?

My wife and I are moving today - for our 12th time in our 13 years together. No joke. I am not sure what life will be like someday without packing for or unpacking from a move...

Anyone want to buy a house? It's within walking distance of the beach!

Re: Gear Grinding 7: Really? This crap again?

Credit card fraud!

Why can't I get away with it?

When I bought my Nintendo Switch my card declined the purchase, then sent me a text asking if it was me. Replied yes, then it took 2 or 3 minutes to go through.

Handy feature, but if it cost me a Switch I would have been a salt mine.

Can you buy an RV and keep it simple?
