Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

As an anti-gear grinder, I really want to say how much I appreciate Twitch Boy replying to the clickbait articles on Facebook with "John Cena *trumpets emoji*" memes. It makes those Godforsaken things bearable to scroll past.

That is actually the voice I mentally read those headlines in.

The saddest part of that meme is John Cena is nowhere near the championship at the moment.

ETA: My Swiftkey can now fill out the entire meme word by word just by me typing a capital J.

ETA 2: The best part is because I responded to them, Facebook keeps giving me more of them...which means I get to keep doing it even more!

I read that whole thing thinking you were talking about Michael Cera.

My company's museum, if we were to have one, would probably consist of the computer hardware I used last week.:p

I have a friend who went Paleo, and she has the audacity to tell me that I'm unhealthy because I don't turn my zucchini into noodles, or "carb-free" spaghetti. She's now more annoying than a vegan.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

I have little time for any named diet. They are usually based on the best marketing campaign, not the most sound health advice.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

If anything, the only "diet" I respect is the Alton Brown rule-based eating. Even he doesn't call it a diet. For good reason.

It seems to be based in reality and doesn't lend one to become a complete *****.

The only "rule" I follow: plenty of fruit and vegetables. Yes, I run marathons, but I limit stuff like pasta to once a week, if that. Besides, my carb of choice is the humble white potato.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

My carbs of choice are pastas and rice. I do enjoy a nice loaf of bread every so often.

I struggle on the vegetable front. I'm a picky eater. :(

Ditto. I need the carbs though, for my job, as it is an active one. I'm picky on veggies, but the ones I like, I like to eat ALL OF THAT VEGETABLE.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

You're not a triathlete. You don't need the carbs for your job any more than I do.

Yeah, I kinda do. Metabolism plus active job. It's not like I'm eating 10K calories a day, or whatever, but I need to eat a bit more than the average person.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

Today I watched some *****hat tow one of those covered work trailers with 2 flat tires at least 2 miles. He blew by us at the Wal-Mart in Saline, all shaking and rattling. Tires flat on the same side, shredding the **** tires and running on the rims, sparks flying everywhere and kinda smoking by the time he finally turned into the TSC in Saline. How in the hell could he have even kept on driving like that? Total *****hat!

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

I believe I have met my match.

I just saw a clickbait headline on Facebook about John Cena.

Watching the bus go past your stop from half a block away, and then have the next bus be 30+ minutes late.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

Lately my Surface tablet has become quite a pain in the *** to use. It sucks that I'm stuck using IE as my browser. Facebook regularly causes a Blue Screen of Death. I'm also out of memory somehow. I have just a couple hundred MB free despite having a 32 gig system. I uploaded about 2.5 gig of photos from a point and shoot and use about 3 apps on this thing. No idea what's eating the other 20+ gigs of memory... Tried running a disk cleanup and that saved about 100 MB... I'm out of ideas...

I won this just over a year ago, so I'm not out of anything if I chose to replace the tablet. Just very disappointed from a user experience...

My first thought is that you have applications running in the background of your tablet. My second thought is that you have the mother of all memory leaks. Of course, you could've been foolish, not had any malware protection on it, and have bloated your system that way, too.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

It's not from running apps... Facebook and Netflix are the only ones I use... The malware thing could be it... I can't run an anti-virus since it's a Windows tablet... I did use the Windows version of an ad blocker shortly after getting it... I need to look into this part of it...

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

I spoke with this client today - I've dealt with her before when I was with a different firm so I was forewarned - but she said 4 times "long story short" and it never got short. What should have been a 2 minute phone call took 10 and felt like 30. I can barely get the proverbial word in edgewise when talking to her.

Nice lady, but man she will talk and talk and talk...
