Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

My biggest gear grinding is the 11th hour requests that management makes... We have the agile process for a reason.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

I bought a water proof Olympus camera for my recent trip to Hawaii. It was a factory refurbished unit bought at the tent sale from the top local camera retailer (National Camera for the locals), I bought the retailers extended warranty since the factory warranty on refurbished is only 90 days. While snorkeling at less than 10' of depth, it shut down and won't turn back on. Swapped batteries, put it on the charger, etc., nothing. When I had loaded the Olympus software that came with it, the option came up to register it with Olympus so I did so. I took it back to National Camera yesterday, had I not registered it, they would have just swapped it out then and there for me.:( By doing the correct thing (registering it with the factory), I shot myself in the foot. Now I have to wait as it gets sent back, maybe "refurbished" again and maybe returned to me.

When someone prefaces a statement with "as you know." If you know I know it already then why say it in the first place?

oh, right, it's your smarmy version of a passive-aggressive put-down. Got it!

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

I officiate high school football here in IL. Every year, officials in all sports must log onto IHSA.org and watch a video regarding rules and policy changes for the upcoming season. Yesterday I watched the rules video, but the pop-up blocker on my Surface prevented me from receiving credit for seeing the video. My bad on that I guess. Went in and thought I allowed IHSA.org to have pop-ups.

Well, just watched the rules video again, and again, I was denied credit

At 35 minutes long, this isn't a quick deal. Went through and re-allowed the appropriate webpage on the pop-up blocker a 2nd time. Crap better work this time, or heads are gonna roll

Try a different browser? I do basketball (maybe baseball this year too) in Michigan and they recommend only using Firefox and a couple other browsers. If you're using Chrome I know that one always seems to have trouble with plug ins.

3rd time it finally allowed the exception... Guess that's what happens when you use IE as a browser... Does Firefox come in a mobile version I can download? I've noticed there aren't a ton of common apps available for Windows :(

Don't use WinBlows. :p:D

You should be able to download Firefox or Chrome. A browser is a browser.

I think IE is actually one of the approved MHSAA browsers. I skimmed over that you were doing it on a tablet, so I don't know about the Firefox app. Personally I don't like using mobile devices for stuff like that, because it always seems like there are plug-in problems no matter the device.

You dont need to use a mobile app on the Surface...I have a Surface and just download the browser like you would on a PC.

What version of IE? There was an incredibly large design difference that happened between IE 8 and IE 10. IE 9 has some of both, but it's much closer to 8 than 10.

"totes adorbs" (actually "totes" anything)
"awesome sauce"

Does this mean you're also opposed to "cool beans"?

I saw a sign today that said ombudsperson. It seems so unnecessary. I had just assumed ombudsman was the general use because anything else is a mouthful, like how it's always defenseman in hockey, not defensewoman.

Personhole cover is a thing...

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

also:
- referring to one's friends as their "squad".
- "blank"-shaming

My boss called me "awesome sauce" last week. or called something I did "awesome sauce". I don't really understand the context. Am I the awesome sauce? Am I covered in it? :p She's the same age as me, roughly, (meaning: not 12) so I thought it was a little odd. She did include a lot of exclamation points, though, so there's that. If I ever plan on using the term, I would like to use it properly and in the correct context. I need you wise people on the internet to explain these things to me.
