Or just never start with caffeine. You'll find yourself so much happier.

I find this difficult to believe.

Coffee blows, though. On the "worst taste" meter it scores somewhere between cantaloupe and kimchi. If coffee tasted like chocolate I would have a really serious problem.

But instead I just drink about 6 sodas a day. I'll bet that's healthy.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

Got my electric bill yesterday for the month of February. It was more than my January bill. OK, so we did have those couple of days of below zero temps during which I ran my heat pump. However, I was literally not in my home for 16 if the 29 days in February. No lights were on, the TVs were not on, no dishwasher or washing machine/dryer running. I know people say to unplug items when you're not home but I cannot imagine that my bill would go up that much due to plugged in items when I was physically not there.

Typically they alternate readings and estimates. I'd bet your Feb bill is an estimate. I've had estimates so high that the next meter reading has resulted in negative charges. It all evens out in the end.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

Went to COSTCO today. Loaded my stuff in the car and looked for the cart return. None close. BUT!, not 60 feet away were 4 lines of carts waiting to go into the store to be used by happy customers. I returned the cart there.

The lady who loaded her car that was next to mine walked 20 feet and pushed her cart on the grassy median. Lazy beech.

Oh my, yes. Collecting carts is my job, and I had to pull a cart off one of those medians today at Sam's Club. I've also had to pull carts away from handicap signs and from between cars, when the corral was a short walk away.

Also, our carts at Sam's are old and need to be replaced. Saw a member bang the carts against the floor, trying to get them unstuck. The carts are already dead, dude.

I'm with you on coffee. I've just never been able to get used to it. I've been trying to cut back on pop to once a week though, so I just go with tea for caffeine now.

However, I will say the one of the most refreshing drinks I've ever had was a coffee during the night driving shift of a road trip. At 3AM I pulled into a gas station in Kentucky fading fast and needed a pick me up. Pop wasn't going to do it so I just got their generic Brazilian roast. At the moment it was so good I thought that was going to be what finally got me into coffee, but it still just tastes like sludge to me.

I like coffee, but I make it sparingly because the way I brew it at home, it always gives me the jitters. Even just 1-2 cups.

Heck, I once got mild jitters from a small at McDonald's. Still not sure what happened there.

Chocolate and caramel flavored coffee milkshakes are what get me. I'm not a big fan of coffee, but if you put enough cream and sugar in it...yum. I foolishly tried Bigby coffee again yesterday, paid too much $$$ for burnt tasting coffee (that's how I feel about Starbuck's too). However, there is one local place, Bearclaw Coffee, that makes a delicious coffee milkshake (I call frapes, frappacino, whatevers milkshakes...because that's basically what they are).

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

Have you checked the kilowatt hours used between the two bills, likely listed as kWH? Also, did your bill for February also include part of January? Billing for utility companies aren't necessarily synced to the standard calendar. Lastly, what was the kWH unit-pricing between the two months? The real kicker about an electric bill, at least around here, is that there's basically a base amount you pay the company for simply making service available - the infrastructure portion of the bill; sometimes that makes up as much as 75% of the bill.

I'm going to compare the two. The February bill was actually Feb1 - March 2, but I wasn't home March 1 or 2 either. I get that rates sometimes fluctuate and February was when we had the coldest weather of the winter but geez. I was traveling the last two weeks of January as well and was surprised at how high that bill was considering I wasn't home 10 of the 31 days of that month but the fact that bill was less than February was even more of a surprise.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

Coffee is absolutely worthless and I understand I'm in the complete minority among adults when I say that. I work with people that treat it like crack and if I told them how I really feel I'd probably get fired.

Re: Gear Grinding 6: I'm So Over This.

Life without coffee is scary.

A street vendor near work has a sign: "Drink coffee: do stupid stuff faster with more energy!" that about sums it up for many in the workplace.

Did you know that The World's Greatest Coffee is available from a different street vendor? who knew?
