I guess judging by the epilogue to Book III, someone we thought dead has some unfinished business (having made a gruesome cameo, grinning from ear to ear, so to speak
).
Two months and two days until the new season of the show begins (April 12). You're getting a bit too far ahead of things, wouldn't you say?

While I know what you're talking about, having read that far, I'm not sure others who have only watched the show would want to know this....
(with that said, I would have to think you're right)

GoT released a new season 5 trailer that showed a particular maester who I expected to have fallen when Lord Bolton's bast@rd sacked Winterfell. Is this the guy people are talking about here?
To be honest, the character that people are referring to has yet to really be talked about. There have been zero reports of that actor/actress being back on set, and if they were going to do something with that character, there might have been some reference to some stuff happening in some of the exposition conversation during S4.
Honestly: I kind of doubt that we will see that character.
And since we've already broached the subject, I'm guessing we want to keep this thread TV-Spoiler free? I have only read through book 3, I am going to read 4 and 5 after this season. Trying to stay kind of in line with the TV series, which is obviously tough with the timeline differences. So I don't really want to see anything that is a spoiler from books 4 and 5, until I read them or see it on the screen. If this is a spoiler thread, I can easily avoid it, no big deal.

Last year, IIRC, we asked that anybody discussing book/show differences have that conversation using white text. Most people followed it though one or two guys got a bit persnickety with idea.
I don't see why we can't the same model again this year.

That works for me.
Sorry book readers, but "Game of Thrones" creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are going to deliver the spoiler of all spoilers.
The two showrunners for the HBO series are some of the few people who know the ending to George R.R. Martin's still unfinished The Song of Ice and Fire book series, which "Game of Thrones" is based on. Last year, they revealed to Vanity Fair that the author explained the ending for "every character" in Westeros. Martin, who recently announced he's skipping fan conventions to finish Book 6, The Winds of Winter, said in 2013 that the the odds of the show catching up to the books "are very long." HBO programming president Michael Lombardo also echoed Martin at the time, telling Entertainment Weekly, "Let’s all hope and pray that’s not going to be a problem."
But while speaking at the Oxford Union, Benioff confirmed that spoilers are most definitely coming soon. "We’ll eventually, basically, meet up at pretty much the same place where George is going," Benioff said. According to the co-creator, there will be parts of the show that stray from the books, as we already know about Season 5's altered storylines and surprising deaths not in Martin's work. "I kind of wish there were some things we didn’t have to spoil, in terms of the books," Benioff continued, "but we’re kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. The show must go on."
The showrunners have expressed their hope multiple times for "Game of Thrones" to run for only seven seasons, but HBO recently revealed that they want more, if possible. If the show extends beyond Season 7, that would give Martin more time to complete his final book in the series, A Dream of Spring, and avoid spoilers in the show for a while longer. But as Benioff said, "We can't put the show on hiatus [...] so we have to kind of keep pushing forward." Watch the full Oxford Union address below.
