Re: Game of Thrones Season 6: Lions and Wolves and Sand Snakes, oh my!

The cave-in reopens the cave mouth and they ship off to someplace nice to have their brat. Then Cersei kills Jaime for food.

I honestly didn’t think Jaime’s ending was that bad. I read something that helped really put it into frame for me. He’s an addict. He’s associated to Cersei. His addiction killed him.

I suppose we don’t know they’re dead, but I’m pretty comfortable saying that was their send off.

I just can’t agree, but that’s ok. Are you a book reader too?
Jaime was my favorite from reading the books (and the actor cast as Jaime also helped me adore him) and I just haven’t reconciled that ending yet. Maybe I will.

Good long tweet thread about styles of storytelling and attempting an explanation at why GoTH seems a bit forced now:

Want to know why Game of Thrones *feels* so different now? Also this is spot on:

That's really cool. Thanks.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 6: Lions and Wolves and Sand Snakes, oh my!

I think it has boiled down to the long lay off between this season and last season, all of the theories and thoughts about how this story line could go, people want it to go, etc. which has led to expectations that are so high they can’t be met.

I thought last night was awesome. Last night was exactly how Dany would act in the book.
I think the issues have more to do with the fact that certain characters are doing total 180's that probably could've been explained better with more time but everything is rushed and forced now. Tyrion becoming a total dumb azz overnight for instance is one. The ho hum demise of the White Walkers and Bran's character arc are big problems. Euron is a hilariously stupid one dimensional character. The drastic balance of power swings between Cersei's army vs Dany's in the last two episodes are mind boggling and make zero sense. Bronn's character is almost certainly done which makes the scene in the episode from 2 weeks ago seem even worse and it was already hilariously bad.

I wasn't nearly as critical as some people were about seasons 5-6 and it wasn't until the end of season 7 that I started finally questioning the direction of things (the white walker plot and all of the important people from the north just standing around on an ice sheet with a dumb look on their face) so it's not like I'm being an overly critical insufferable nerd here like some. But the endgame has been very forced and it's just not very satisfying unfortunately. Maybe GRRM or some protege will finish the books and do it better but who knows.

Did Aaron Rodgers appearing in the episode ruin the moment for everybody else, too? I mean, he did get burned alive twice - as two different extras.

I thought not.

That is a really good tweet thread. Thanks for posting.

I missed him completely. I'd probably have noticed if it was Brady.

I think he might have actually had two cameos in that episode. I've seen a photo that purportedly shows him standing in a line of archers. But I've also seen a photo of him and a short clip that shows him dressed in a camo outfit apparently helping a woman flee through the streets of Kings Landing.

What's bizarre is that in the camo outfit and stills I've seen, he still has his beard. In the still photo of the archers he is clean shaven (although it certainly looks like him).

Benioff and Weiss wanted to be done with GOT so they could work on Confederate and failing that, Star Wars. Thus the rush.

Right, I don't blame anyone (actors, directors, anyone associated with this show that's gone on for nearly a decade) for wanting to get on with their lives, even if selfishly it would've been better if they drug out the show for 2 more seasons or whatever to get it right.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 6: Lions and Wolves and Sand Snakes, oh my!

I hears that the actor who plays bronn and Lena heady no longer shoot together- they dated and had a nasty breakup earlier in the series.

My first thought was, Cersei could do better!

Cersei looks about 100 years older than Bronn.
