So many awesome moments tonight. One liners galore!

My prediction is both Bran and the Night King die next week. The last three episodes are going to be the war against Cersei and the aftermath of that.

It would be surprising if there were 3 more episodes where the Night King was alive after the “big battle” and we don’t have people like Dany, Jon, Tyrion etc. around.

I think it’s plausible that our hero trio or some of them survive as well as the Night King, but it’d be a stretch. I think we’re going to lose a lot of main characters next week sadly.

Interesting that Dany's first reaction wasn't "Oh man, I've been shagging my nephew" it was worrying about the throne.

Wasn't her whole motivation that she was going to "break the wheel" because that doesn't seem to be part of her plan anymore.

They seem to be trying to introduce the idea that her Targarean blood is infecting her soul, or something. Frodo with the ring.

But hey, Arya sideboob FTW.

Is that drecky Irish singer sleeping with the director a la Kate Capshaw? Her music is horrible.

Well, last 4 episodes. 2 wars and someone sitting on the throne. A lot of people that I've grown fond of are going to die next week.

I don't think anyone has reasonably concluded that Dany is anything but the "Mad Queen" in making since at least midway through the series. She has always been about the throne, notwithstanding her little spiel to Sansa last night. But that does tie in a bit with three thoughts I had about the series following last nights episode.

Thought #1 Since Dany has been heading for the "Mad Queen" role for some time, it begs the question whether the writers will kill her off, and if so, at whose hand and how. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it's at the hand of Jorah Mormont. Maybe she gets killed by a sword stuck in her back by the man sworn to protect her, like with the Mad King. To have that sword be Heartsbane, given to Mormont last night would be interesting, given Dany's treatment of the Tarleys. What's the point of the writers directing our attention not once, but twice, to a weapon that has thus far played no role in the show?

Thought #2 Man, it sure seemed like last night's episode was a sort of "last rights" for Jaime Lannister. He made his peace with Sansa and Dany for the role he played in their fathers' deaths. He offered his apologies to Bran. He and his brother came full circle in their relationship. And he was able to essentially show his love for Brienne. I've been of a mind that Jaime was going to be one of the characters that made it through to the end, at least long enough for one last confrontation with Cersei, but I'm not so sure after last night.

Thought #3 The writers have never been shy about using the "cavalry to the rescue at the last minute" plot device and it sure seems like they are setting it up here again, but that will disappoint me if they do. Try something different in the battles. On the other hand, I find it hard to believe that while the battle is raging we're just going to have the Golden Company and Bronn with his crossbows completely out of sight.

Edit: Edited because I wrote down the name of the wrong Mormont. Jorah obviously received Heartsbane in the last episode, not his deceased father Jeor.

This is a great post.

#1 - The Tarley's got what they deserved. Especially the father who was a worthless human being.
#2 - Jaime has had a number of redemptive moments throughout the show. Last rights? He may survive. I still believe it could go virtually any direction and there are no obvious hints to which way they take it. Especially given the books haven't been written yet

Did people really think she was still a little girl? How many years has it been? Come one people.

Considering that Samwell began the show looking 17 and now looks 43.

GRRM has already said that his books will end differently than the show. He's plotted out the entire thing, but hasn't actually written the text. He made mention when season 5 or 6 was airing that the show had killed or made the events of the books impossible to duplicate within the show. That said, he approved of HBO's overall story plans and the ultimate ending.

I actually really like that. It means I get two possible endings. So, if I don't like the way the show ended there is still a chance I'll like the way the books end.

It also mean he gets two dips from the audience. No fool.

He said on 60 minutes last week that the only differences might be a few secondary characters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjDentEr9c4

I doubt he's written anything of Winds in years. He's content to count his money and let the show finish his story.

Re: Game of Thrones Season 6: Lions and Wolves and Sand Snakes, oh my!

Since Jaime is my favorite character I certainly want him to survive, but I could also see last night being the end of his redemption arc.
I’d like to see him kill dany, though.

That's not his job. It should be someone who loved her and believed in her. So, Jon if you believe that tripe (blech), Mormont or Tyrion if not. Hovey's explanation of the sword below makes perfect sense to me. Grey Worm isn't a bad choice, either.

Though Cersei would be an interesting choice. It seems like all the arcs give each character a reason to be. What is Cersei's purpose? She has been wholly insular, unless you count her significance as Jaime's siren. That is too little to bequeath such an important character. So what if Cersei's purpose is even at the very heart of evil, and for all the wrong reasons, she saves the 7 Kingdoms from the Mad Queen?

I guess I don't see Dany as the mad queen. Either I missed it or I just have a different view. She may die, but I don't really have a list of "want to die" characters.

Cersei is unredeemable at this point for me. She's the personification of Chaotic Evil. But, that doesn't mean she needs to die in the end.
