Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

Customers have three ticket options:

1. All-session tickets: One ticket to each semifinal game and one ticket to the championship game;

2. Session I tickets: One ticket to the two semifinal games on March 20;

3. Session II tickets: One ticket to the championship game on March 22.

All tickets for the Frozen Four are reserved seats, and prices range from $10 to $35. Prices and seat types are as follows:
- Chairback ($35 for all-session and $25 for semifinals only or championship game only)
- Adult bench ($25, $20)
- Student/senior/youth bench ($20, $15)
- Group ($15, $10)

Tickets go on sale to the public through MyGopherSports.com this Friday, Dec. 19.

Thanks. I was considering taking a group of people to the upcoming UW/UM series in January, but I think I'll play the percentages and hold out for the Frozen 4. Plus one of the upcoming games is on BTN, so I'll be able to see one game.

more fun with numbers:
the number of top ten ranked teams the Big 3 have played thus far:
MN - 7
WI - 6
BC - 1

When does the preseason schedule end for BC? The only test this season is a BU team that the Gophs tossed around? Should be another early exit...Go BU!

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

Exactly why I don't have BC #1.

This is fair. I wish we played a tougher schedule too. My understanding is it's not for want of trying. In fairness, Cornell / Quinni / Harvard / BU is a decent slate, and I think everyone's surprised by how weak Northeastern have been this year.

Wait till everyone sees the western opponent on our schedule next year. Even our western opponents decide to tank the year we play them! But will they call one of their own a cupcake? That is the question.

I won't speak for anyone else, but my frustration with BC's schedule isn't that the Eagles built a slate that was too easy, but that it is tough to evaluate just how good that they really are with the games that they've played. Cornell looks to be playing much better now than when it first started, but even now, it looks like a team that would have trouble shutting down a strong offensive team. Harvard wasn't playing that well heading into the BC game and then imploded a few minutes into the second period, so what do we take away from that eight-goal stomping as a measure of the Eagles? Is BC like 2003 Harvard, one of the most dominant offensive clubs ever? Are the Eagles more like 2006 UNH, that just stomped teams down the stretch and looked like it could name its score? Or are they just something beyond what we've ever seen before? If March ends and they are outscoring everybody by almost five goals a game, then it will be the latter. Right now, we can only wait and see.

The big challenge is either UW or UM getting the 1 seed so they don't play each other in the semis again. This BC cupcake-a-thon will be hard to unseat. The best chance is UM or UW to sweep the other in January. That would be quite a statement and it should over-ride these crazy BC stats they are piling up.

It won't, though, in the Pairwise. KRACH probably, but BC controls its own destiny in the PWR.

That's true if Bemidji State remains a TUC. Should the Beavers drop out, then Minnesota would lead in both TUC and CoP. If the Gophers can sweep SLU, they would clinch CoP. If BC had a big enough lead in RPI, a committee could overlook slight disadvantages in the other two, but I don't know how big that lead would be if UM won out. Not that I think that is at all likely, but it figures in the control of destiny theory.

That's a fair point but it's pretty unlikely BSU drops out -- in fact it's probably more likely you see SLU drop out which would give BC the 1.000 TUC record.

But nonetheless, your point obviously stands.

Their undefeated season, those teams WERE the little sisters of the poor. They faced one (1) NCAA tournament team all regular season -- #8 North Dakota.
and beat them 6 times

you are correct, BU & BC hardly rated being a top 10 team that year

how many times did BC beat UND that year?

how many times did BC beat WI?

the answer is never, in fact the best they could do is split with UMD, the 4th place team :p

It's too bad you never played North Dakota with the Lams. Those were tough teams. The reason North Dakota didn't come as close in some of those games, like the January series in 2013, is because Kessel was healthy and just took over. You didn't get to see the real Kessel against BC, because she was just coming back after being injured. We'll never know, but I'm convinced that if the no names had won that 3OT game, they'd have gone on to win the title, because they were the second-best team I saw that season.

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

I'm glad we didn't, I didnt want half our team to end up in the hospital!
You Eastern kids are pretty soft, so I doubt most would have survived the ambulance ride.

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

the won-lost record of Boston Cupcake Eaters opponents this year= 67-98 40.6% :o
Minnesota 86-74 53.8%

hey, I think BC is a top team, but they have played an easy schedule, there is no getting around that fact
