Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

...so you want to know... what is the combined record of the teams the top 3, BC, MI, & WI have played?
Wisconsin opponents 67-79 45.9% winning percentage
Boston College 67-98 40.6% :o
Minnesota 86-74 53.8%

... and if you say well of course BC opponents have a low winning percentage, they have a lot of losses because they play BC
so let's remove that:
Wi 49.2%
BC 45.2%
MN 59.4%

that's what you call fun with numbers

This year's Tournament Predictor is good to go and ready for the arrival of the conference semifinals. See the images below for a quick preview:

Once the semifinals roll around, the first column of teams will be set and ready for your scenarios. Each "finals" and "champion" line is a drop down box. You pick the winner of each game and the table on the top right will display the exact PWR as a result of the winners you selected. It will automatically bump up any non-qualifier autobids into the top 8, and will also display the first 2 teams out of the tournament.

The differences between this year's and last year's spreadsheet are 1) this one is significantly less buggy because I actually built it using Excel, not OpenOffice, and 2) These are not guesstimates -- they are exact RPI and PWR calculations.

Who's excited? I'm pretty excited.

EDIT: ALSO, COMING SOON! The PWR spreadsheet and tournament predictor will be accessible ONLINE, without download! I hope to have that up and running tonight.

All I can say is that had I come up with the nifty word "nifty," (ne7minder), which must go back to Hearst's day itself, I would not have needed to lift the gif from TTT himself.
