Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

If BC-lite were to lose to Vermont minus Pelkey (more likely than Northeastern minus Coyne/Savage at the moment), should the Eagles drop, given everyone in shouting distance of them is resting?

It's a really tough one. I wouldn't be surprised if they did drop, given that voters seem to have short memories. I think it would depend on the nature of the loss. 6-0 and everyone would agree it was fair. If it was 4-3 I think there'd be a strong argument that it shows BC's depth and that when you only have four defenders these things happen occasionally.

Really would be nice to get Wedell or Johnson back for that Vermont game.

Depends on how the game goes, I guess. But I would have to say probably, yeah.

By the way, NU will be without Krïzøvä and Põvôvå as well this weekend.

1. BC - steady diet of cupcakes has them headed to the mountain top
2. Minnesota - the invincibility is slowly eroding, and standing water is to blame?
3. Wisconsin - If they can avoid Minnesota in the post season, they may meet BC for the right to stand on the mountain top.
4. Quinnipiac - mmm...red velvet cupcakes
5. Harvard - threw a dart at a board with names for this spot and it hit crimson.
6. BU - loss to Maine looks bad but they are less bad than Clarkson.
7. Clarkson - BU is their kryptonite.
8. Mercyhurst - position due to more dart throwing
9. Bemidji - they are evidently able to overcome standing water.
10. UND - Bi-polar.

The Beavers were already ahead. Once the rink was "flooded", it was impossible to get the puck to move out of the corner, introducing a stalemate to the proceedings. :D

Great goaltending seems to be a Maine tradition. For my money, Brittany Ott is the best American goalie who wasn't invited to the National Camp, and possibly the best goalie in the world who isn't playing in Kamloops or for a men's team.

Schelling, Raty?

And I think their current #1 goaltender is Meghan Tracey (not sure if I spelled that right).

Räty is currently playing for a men's team.

Yes, and while Schelling is very good, I suspect that Ott is in better game form at the moment as joint starting goalie for the Blades, with the matchplay and practice that involves. I've seen her in action four or five times since June and she really is great.

Nicole Hensley!!!! I am NOT a Lindenwood fan in any sense of the word but that girl is outstanding!!!!

What kind of keyboard has all those letters and diacritical marks??
Keyboards don't, but browsers and text editors allow clicking on all sorts of hieroglyphics.

You don't have to tell me watching her face 73 shots and only let in 2 this whole weekend. I give her a ton of credit for having not much help to actually be able to steal a game or two for Lindenwood.

Serious question -- is BC the first eastern team ever to be ranked #1 in the middle of a season (basically, excluding last year's season ending poll)?

EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't see that the USCHO poll went back to 1998. But the answer would be "no" anyway. Harvard was #1 for a ton of the 2007-2008 season.

Harvard had 1 loss going into the NCAA tournament? How on earth do I not remember this?

Ever? Surely you jest. Harvard, Dartmouth, UNH have all been No. 1, just off the top of my head. I'd guess Cornell has, but I'm not sure. SLU is a maybe.

I edited, I apparently have a really short memory because even though Joe and I have been into the sport since late 2006, neither of us remember this at ALL.

You western programs have warped my fragile little mind!

Actually, you can go into Windows settings and get all sorts of different keyboard arrangements, including an arrangement for virtually any language in the Windows purchasing world. Complete instructions available here.

If you know the language of the player, you can switch to her language keyboard. Her language keyboard will include keys for all of the diacriticals used in her language. And there you most probably go.

I used to do this for Noora Räty until I learned an alt 132 shortcut on the standard keyboard for lower case ä.

Also, if you're using a Mac, all you need to do is hold down the letter you're typing and a little pop up menu will appear with all the different letter marks you can use

I think I'm in the wrong forum. Is this "Fun with Keyboards"? :)
