1) Minnesota -- presumptive until they slip up
2) Wisconsin -- better than expected
3) Boston College -- playing every game like it's a championship game, still some questions about keeping goals out
4) Harvard
5) Cornell -- no-one's put in a claim to be better than them yet
6) Boston University -- Not the best performance but not outshone by anyone below.
7) Mercyhurst -- I am regretting ever having them at not-7
8) Northeastern
9) Quinnipiac
10) Clarkson -- because respect is still due, for one more week

ARV: Bemidji State

1 UM
2 UW
3 Hawvawd
4 BC
5 Mercy
6 NE
7 Clarkson
8 UND
9 Bemiji
10 RIT

10) Clarkson -- because respect is still due, for one more week

I was at Saturdays game... Clarkson was sloppy, slow, and no longer have the forecheck that made them such a major threat to every team they faced last year. At this point after those first two games (even though they probably could have won both if Shea Tiley had started Friday) I just can't give them a top ten spot until they get their act together. It's looking like a rebuilding year at this point but there are quite a few games left so we shall see.

Renata Fast was also on crutches, does anyone know what happened? Did it happen at the Fall Festival?

1. Minnesota - for now...
2. Wisconsin - very close second
3. Boston college - top three is really tight
4. Harvard - don't like it since they haven't played
5. Cornell - again don't want to, but no one else deserves top 5
6. Boston University
7. Mercyhurst
8. Quinnipiac
9. Bemidji
10. Northeastern - I guess... Can't put North Dakota here after that loss to Vermont

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

I have only swapped places with BC and Harvard - The rest remains the same. Not enough games to change my mind about UND + I never had them ranked as high as others. I think (like a few others) there is a gap between 1-5 and the rest, so losses by BU and UMD don't hurt them in the rankings. I don't think any of the other 6-10 team or ARV would have played Minny or Wisc any closer.

1. Wisconsin
2. Minnesota
3. BC
4. Harvard
5. Cornell
6. BU
7. Northeastern
8. Mercyhurst
9. North Dakota
10. MN Duluth

Not ready to give up on ND until after the next couple weekends. Too much talent. The Vermont game looked like one team that played Friday night and one that did not. In fact I believe the NCAA should launch an investigation into this mysterious missing sticks incident. Let’s call it stick gate 14’ ;)

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

1. BC

gap

2. Minnesota
3. Wisconsin 2 and 3 are pretty equal

Gap

4. Cornell
5. Harvard
6. BU
7. Mercyhurst
8. Bemidji
9. Quinnipiac
10. UND

A bit of guess work after the top three...

I want to know how USCHO is even able to mathematically post pairwise rankings so far, given that there's a whollllllle bunch of divide-by-zeros in the formula. And how does Bemidji manage to pull be a TUC with a .000 RPI?

THIS WHOLE THING OFFENDS ME MATHEMATICALLY

Rutter looks pretty fun. Having trouble looking at the graph, did Rutter have BSU 16th to start the year (based off last season's rankings)?

Unlike other rankings, Rutter does consider the prior season until those results are outweighed by the current season such that the effect of the prior season becomes negligible. Otherwise, Bemidji State's win over Vermont alone would have the Beavers farther ahead of BC than the current Rutter rankings.

Oh I know that, I mean I can't tell where Rutter had Bemidji to start the season (and therefore end last season) because the lines on my screen are too small. Just out of curiosity.
