By far the best quality stream we have seen thus far to boot, maybe they see this as a way to win over parents from the great white north. Watch your kids games in HD for free, wish everyone would jump on that band wagon.
It is good. Northeastern also has a good production. Wisconsin also had one of the best combinations of video quality, camera position, lighting, etc., but their video requires a subscription.

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

These are all reasonable questions (except the bit about arrogance -- BC itself isn't arrogant, and fans of successful programs are arrogant no matter where they come from).

They have certainly had the USA National Team resume over the years and seem to have it all together more this year than ever before but I would debate if the arrogance of a "successful program" although prevalent is yet justified (for BC WOMENS fans) by what is hanging in the ceiling of the arena. In fact if the way they talk on this board for the last few years is the result of teams that have never really delivered kind of makes you shutter to think what if they ever win. How many ways can you say insufferable.

I join in ARM in giving a shoutout to NU's video. Really quality stuff.

Brace yourself :D:p

I am finally caught up with updating last week's poll and inputting everyone's polls this week, by the way.

Posters Poll will return at noon tomorrow for Week 9, so make sure you get your votes in, especially those of you waiting for the Cornell/Colgate game tonight.

Actually the defending champs--Clarkson come to Madison this season at the end of January... Which means next year the Badgers will travel to Clarkson.. Expect another big crowd in Madison for this match up!

And UW is going to New Hampshire in a few weeks.....

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

Whew, Badgers, don't stress yourselves out too much!

Yeah. Winning big over UNH doesn't mean much. Certainly no one that wants to be ranked #1 would play them for a weekend. And can you imagine how weak a schedule would be if it had the Wildcats on it three times?

I close the shutters on Grant all the time.

We're forced to play UNH; Wisconsin chose to!

Besides, I'd rather play UNH 3 times than Minnesota State 4.

And now, you can act all superior, because you swept them for the first time since … gee, when was the last time you swept those lowly Wildcats that you're forced to play?

1. Boston College
2. Minnesota
3. Wisconsin (for now)
4. Quinnipiac (want to wait to see what happens this weekend before I put them any higher)
5. Clarkson
6. Harvard (Should probably drop them further but I put SLU into top 10 instead because I'm not convinced yet the others are better than Harvard)
7. Bemidji
8. Mercyhurst
9. Cornell (Starting to get back into the swing of things although I think Colgate lost that game last night more so than Cornell won it)
10. St. Lawrence (Managed to get the OT goal Clarkson couldn't)

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

Curious what the math is on this site.
Not the actual math, but at least, the thought behind it:
MYHockey's ratings are computed mathematically, with no subjective weighting. MYHockey rates teams based upon how well they play against other teams and how good those teams are. These two factors are "AGD" or "average goal differential" and "SCHED" or "strength of schedule". AGD is currently calculated by accumulating the goal differential of each game, to a maximum of 7, and then dividing it by the number of games played. Using a max game goal differential of 7 does "penalize" teams that blow out opponents, but this is common in rating systems as it takes away the incentive for teams to run up scores and allows them to have a bad game by capping the mathematical damage. The strength of schedule is computed by averaging the rating of each game opponent. AGD and SCHED are then added together to compute a team's official rating. A teamís rating typically is not reflective of the teamís best or worst games, but a mathematically computed average performance rating.

Harvard will show up somewhere after Friday's result vs. BU is in the books (minimum of 5 games played).

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

So, by this poll, Minnesota has played 7 of its 12 games against teams in the top ten. Wisconsin has played 6. Boston College and Quinnipiac have combined to play . . . uhm, I may run out of fingers . . . 0.
