C'mon Grant, even someone from BU can type on the teacups.
Alright we're in line for Toy Story Midway Mania so I have some time #humblebrag

1) Dartmouth -- Adjusted: .7401, Unadjusted: .6482
UNH, Union, RPI wins removed

2) BC -- Adjusted: .6840, Unadjusted .6478
Cuse, PC, UVM, NU, UNH wins removed

4) Quinnipiac -- Adjusted: .6574, Unadjusted: .6369
Colgate, UNH, UConn wins removed

6) Clarkson -- Adjusted: .6005, Unadjusted: .5928
PC wins removed

7) Harvard -- Adjusted: .5994, Unadjusted: .5980
Union wins removed

Aaaaaand USCHO added where teams are in the polls to its composite schedule ( http://www.uscho.com/scoreboard/division-i-women/2014-2015/composite-schedule/ ) so now I need to edit my spreadsheet.

Pokechecker Index
some people are not going to be happy

1 MN 7

2 WI 12
3 BC 13

4 Harvard 21
5 Quinnipiac 24
5 Clarkson 24

7 BU 36

8 Murcyhurst 43
9 UMD 44
10 Dartmouth-UND-Bemidji-Ohio State

and lets keep in mind, if polls are to predict who is the the final 8
then Murcyhurst is a valid top ten (or #13 ;) ) what with the CHA guarrateed a spot

pokechecker -- what are the rankings that the index uses?

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

I found it --

What I do is take the two coaches poll and come up with an average of them. Then I do the same for the Pairwise/RPI. Then I average the two composite rankings together

Not following your math, though... BC is 1st in both polls and behind only Dartmouth in the PWR/RPI?

Even if you're including Rutter, that still wouldn't be enough to get Minnesota ahead of BC (1-2-3 for BC, 2-3-1 for Minnesota).

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

I fixed the PWR spreadsheet from the first post.

Enhancements:

1) It works with USCHO's new thing of showing the poll rankings for each team on its schedule page. That change had broken the sheet entirely.

2) The sheet is a MUCH more manageable size. It's been cut from 42 MB to under 4 MB while keeping the exact same functionality.

3) I don't yet know if the Yale vs. Sacred Heart game is going to screw things up but I'll cross that bridge when we get there. For now, at a minimum it shouldn't break the sheet if you put a score in for that game.

4) BC is not in first right now but I'm hoping to have that bug fixed by the next update :D

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

1. BC
2. Minn
3. Wisc
4. Harvard
5. Quinnipiac
6. Clarkson
7. Minn-Duluth
8. Ummm... Bemidji?
9. Hmmm... Mercyhurst??
10. IDK... Boston University???

#'s 8 thru 10 are a bear to pick. Feel free to giggle at, criticize, ponder, get angry at, or raise an eyebrow at any of my last three choices.

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

1. Boston College
2. Wisconsin
3. Minnesota
4. Quinnipiac
5. Harvard
6. Clarkson
7. Bemidji State
8. North Dakota
9. Minnesota-Duluth
10. Mercyhurst

Also receiving consideration: Boston University, Northeastern, Cornell, Dartmouth

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

I may update after Tuesday as well, though only if BU lose or if there is any result whatsoever in the Hurst/OSU game. For now:

1-4 could be in any order:

1. Boston College -- LEARY AWAKES
2. Quinnipiac -- Bye week, yes, but their diet has been less cupcakey than BC's and Darkangelo may wake up after her good performance at 4 Nations
3. Minnesota
4. Wisconsin

5. Harvard -- who knows? They could pull a Cornell on us and be stinky or they could be as good as they look. Here for now because they've made fewer mistakes than anyone below them.

6. Boston University -- reflecting how good they'll be if Poulin gets healthy again.
7. Clarkson -- some tough games coming up for them too.
8. Mercyhurst -- even cupcakier schedule than BC and Quinni have had, so they need to win very consistently to stay rated
9. Bemidji State -- interested to see how they do against North Dakota
10. North Dakota -- interested to see how they do against Bemidji

Ready to come in next week if they keep it up against a serious team: Dartmouth
Under consideration: Princeton (good results against various Mite Bs), Vermont (would have been in if they'd beaten UNH), Ohio State (Hurst, 2xMinny, 2xNoDak coming up -- .5 over that would be extremely good)

Updated, BU get a bump down, MU get a bump up, my opinion of OSU and NoDak changes for no good reason, etc.

1. Boston College
2. Quinnipiac
3. Minnesota
4. Wisconsin
5. Harvard
6. Mercyhurst -- legit win v OSU
7. Clarkson
8. BU
9. OSU -- two wins over Bemidji getting them the nod here in a record that otherwise consists of beating who you'd expect, losing to who you'd expect, and slipping up against St. Cloud
10. Bemidji -- maybe just keeping the spot warm for North Dakota

On the doorstep: Dartmouth, Princeton, North Dakota. In principle UMD though it's hard to see how they can help themselves as much as they can harm themselves this weekend.

1) Boston College -- Could not be more thrilled to go 2-0 without the Four Nations Five and win the game where they played 2.33 games in 14 hours, too.
2) Minnesota -- Idle
3) Quinnipiac -- Idle
4) Wisconsin -- Idle
5) Harvard -- Idle

Now I throw my hands up in the air in frustration.

6) Bemidji State -- Idle
7) Clarkson -- Idle
8) Dartmouth -- Howdy
9) Mercyhurst -- Losing to Syracuse = WOMP
10) Boston University -- Will continue to plummet without Poutine.
Going to keep this as-is after today's results.

3. Wisconsin Ditto
4. Quinnipiac Cupcake War #2 Winner takes the weekend off
5. Harvard Big game with Clarkson this weekend in the North Country
6. Poulin-ton University Despite the tie with Yale minus Poulin
7. Clarkson A bye weekend getting ready for Hahvad
8. Ohio State Beat Bemidji
9. Minnesota-Duluth Tie with Minny Split with UNDakota
10. Bemidji State Beat and Tied Minny

9) UND
10) UMD

Keeping it the same after Sun-Tues scores

Re: Fun With Numbers '14-'15: USCHO Posters Poll, Pairwise What-Ifs, and Other Goodie

After the weekend, Clarkson will actually have 5 TUC games (still a far cry of 12 TUC games commonplace in the west).

Dartmouth and Harvard have decided to actually go into uncharted waters by playing against a TUC...not to be outdone by BC's one TUC game, they'll just being playing a single TUC game themselves. Let's not go crazy here. :)
