Friday Night Ice (and scores, and rants, and anti-TicketMaster comments)

Re: Friday Night Ice (and scores, and rants, and anti-TicketMaster comments)

5-3 Williams over Tufts.

Even first period where each team scored a goal. In the second, Williams started to tilt the ice until about 2 minutes left when Tufts tilted the ice back. Tufts took a 2-1 lead on a terrible attempt to catch a puck either above or at the crossbar, puck went off the glove and into the net. Williams got it back and took the lead shortly. Williams looked like they were going to run away with the game, but Tufts buckled down and looked impressive on the rest of the PKs.
Williams was up 5-2 before Tufts got one back I believe midway through the third. Tufts buzzed the net, but could not get another goal.

Just a side note.....Romney never had fire alarm issues....Of course, the fire alarms there probably didn't really work anyways.

I think the only way you would have known if there was a fire at Romney was when the fire engines pulled up outside.

Most bizarre call ever

Most bizarre call ever

Was at the Cornell Clarkson game tonight. Halfway through the 2nd, a bru-ha-ha breaks out. A couple of coincidental fighting penalties, and a 5 minute major and DQ for leaving the bench charged to the Red.

52 seconds into the penalty, the ref comes to the scorer's bench - behind which we were directly seated - and calls off the penalty, and brings the banished player back from the locker room to the bench. On the post game, Cornell's asst coach stated he'd never seen a call like that ever.

Anyone ever seen a call reversed partially through a penalty?

I had a very brief conversation this evening with an Official who was at that game (not on the ice... a fine gentleman, I might add). I mentioned this event, and he tried to explain the situation, but not knowing the details I will not attempt to make sense of it nor try to explain the jist of the explanation here, because I am sure it would be pure jibberish coming from my fingers. I wish I had the opportunity to talk further with this man, but distractions ('the kids') and time limitations hindered our discussion. However I will say this... we will have time to talk again with him in the near future at the Domes.

Stay tuned...
