Friday 11/26/10- Black Friday, White Ice, Hot Action

Re: Friday 11/26/10- Black Friday, White Ice, Hot Action

Adrian and Eau Claire at 3-3 in OT.

Re: Friday 11/26/10- Black Friday, White Ice, Hot Action

Eau Claire wins 4-3 just over 2:00 into OT.

Re: Friday 11/26/10- Black Friday, White Ice, Hot Action

5 min and then shots, right?

I suspect it just would have been a tie as the pairings are all pre-determined. GEN/EC and ADR/HAM were playing tomorrow regardless.

Cool. So it works out that Geneseo and Eau Claire will meet for the tourney title, and Adrian will play Hamline in the consolation. I don't like pre-determined schedule "tournaments" like this one and the other one going on in the western region (even though I know in this case it was because Adrian wanted the in-region games).

Re: Friday 11/26/10- Black Friday, White Ice, Hot Action

Lawrence still up 1-0 on St. Scholastica with 8 to go...

Not anymore -- Dobbs?? 1-1
And the Saints take the lead 2-1 @ 14:22

Well, in cases like these, these "tournaments" are more like "showcases" instead. In D-1 for the last 15+ years or so, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Minnesota have played in one very similar every Thanksgiving weekend. One night Michigan will play Minnesota and MSU will play Wisconsin, and then the next night Michigan plays Wisconsin and MSU plays Minnesota. Same format as the Adrian tournament, but they don't call it a tournament. Semantics, I guess.

Lawrence scores 2 quick goals to go up 3-2 with 2 mins left in the third... DeSmit and Hughes with the goals

Re: Friday 11/26/10- Black Friday, White Ice, Hot Action

Alright! So the other western "showcase" is gonna work out like a good 'ol traditional tournament too...

The Lawrence one is a "showdown". Get it right :p

I really like the format of the SNC/CSS/LU tournament.

SNC and CSS play each other during conference play and don't need to meet in another tourney. It gives natural rivals SNC & LU a regular meeting - something which had been lacking for several years. It sets their plans on this weekend, and allows them to bring in another team. I hope it continues for years to come.

Time for SNC to put its 29-0 record vs. Vikings on the line!

Re: Friday 11/26/10- Black Friday, White Ice, Hot Action

Lawrence 4
St. Scholastica 2

Final
ENG at the end.
CSS seemed to gain momentum midway through the 3rd period, but Lawrence got the two goals in the matter of about 15 seconds to retake the lead.
Nice win for the Vikings. See how they manage against SNC tomorrow nite.
About Marian vs SNC: I expected more from the Sabres.
SNC seemed to have their way in the Marian zone. Our strong forecheck created plenty of offensive pressure. The smaller Lawrence ice sheet seemed to stifle the speedy Marian forwards from cleanly breaking out of their own end.
When they would break out into our zone, our D was up to the challenge and gave up very few quality scoring chances.

Very intrigued to see what Lawrence can do against SNC tomorrow....

Geneseo representing the East well right now too. If they can take that title, that will be a nice boost for the East.

Don't you mean 29-1?? :D 52 weeks ago Saturday.

Not ALL Vikings - just the Lawrence University kind. :D

And, yes, I am well aware that Lawrence's record books indicate they have a win against SNC. That was in the first year Lawrence's team played in the NCAA, but it was the last year it was a club sport at SNC.
