The Captain: Once thought to be leaving hockey behind when she left high school, 2009-10 Captain Colleen Martin has become a leader on and off the ice for the Friars.

Nick Of Time: Netminder Genevieve Lacasse gets her glove down just in time to thwart a wrap-around by Brown's Laurie Jolin.

Minding the house: Junior Leigh Riley has been a solid stay at home defenseman in her first two seasons with the Friars. Look for her strong skating and puck moving skills to produce more offense this season.

Re: Friars 2009-2010 Season

But what does UnhCat09 think, that's my question?

I should go back in time and place a bet on the men's team having more wins than the women's team.

Great 6-2 victory over BU today at Schneider!! In total, 9 goals were scored by the Lady Friars this weekend, which certainly beats the total of 9 scored over the previous 7 games. Great job of not giving up when things were tough!

Nicole Anderson with a hat trick today! (upcoming Hockey East Rookie of the Week ;) ) and Genevieve Lacasse with 41 saves (43 shots) - my vote for HE Defensive Player of the Week.

Re: Friars 2009-2010 Season

Did Lacasse play in yesterday's game? If so I'd have to give the nod to one of the 3 goalies who had shutouts this weekend IMO.

How are the Friars doing on the injury front? Is Kate Bacon back playing yet?

Miss LaCasse was in net yesterday, and Miss Bacon was on the ice as well.

Hux already answered both questions, but give me a break. We Friar fans haven't had a lot to cheer about so I am enthusiastic :D

Re: Friars 2009-2010 Season

Not sure what the injury was to Ms. Bacon but missing half the games and only having one point has to speak to opportunity ahead - she is a top player that can contribute. Nice to see another MN girl Nikki Anderson having such a nice start and big game on Sunday.

I was half right  Congrats to both!

PURE HOCKEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ASHLEY COTTRELL - PROVIDENCE COLLEGE
Sophomore Forward; Sterling Heights, Mich.

Cottrell recorded five points (2g,3a) on the weekend against BU with four points (1g,3a) coming in PC’s 6-2 victory on Sunday.

BAUER CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
NICOLE ANDERSON - PROVIDENCE COLLEGE
Freshman Forward; Jordan, Minn.

Anderson recorded four points with a hat trick and an assist in PC’s 6-2 victory over No. 7 BU on Sunday.

Re: Friars 2009-2010 Season

Wow! Great game today, Friars. Way to hang-on to the lead after the come-from-behind loss to NU a couple of weeks ago.

I am going with my predictions of a couple of weeks ago with rookie and goalie of the week - Jessica Vela for Rookie of the Week and Genevieve Lacasse for Goalie of the week. :)

Vella scored two goals, the first of her career, on Saturday, December 5 in PC's 4-1 upset over No. 3 New Hampshire in Durham, N.H.
