Freaking Milk Duds

Kepler

Cornell Big Red
When did they start making them with Super Glue? I literally pulled a tooth out with one today.

(They also seem to be getting bigger. The Duds, not the teeth. I thought all candy got smaller over time.)

Re: Freaking Milk Duds

I prefer the malted milk balls. Less of a chance of losing teeth.

Gad. Sorry to hear about that. IMO adjustments to the formula usually have something to do with shelf life. It's been so long since I had one I can't comment on the increased size, but you're right, shrink the portion, maintain the price.

As a kid we had Reed suckers, with ropelike handles (they also made rolled hard candies in same flavors as the suckers) but you don't see them at all anymore.

Was it your tooth?

Yikes!

I loved these as a kid, but I steer clear of them now, as I've got enough fillings that I don't want to risk them messing with my teeth.

Re: Freaking Milk Duds

My older brother taught me years ago that Milk Duds and Tootsie Rolls were best stored on our shelf above the radiator. That way they are soft and chewy. I would have thought that someone that went to an engineering school would have had some kind of thermodynamics class that would have given you a hint.

Sorry to get you this information so late in life.;)

(candy with 'real' chocolate were best stored near our window, but out of direct sunlight, to keep it from melting)

Re: Freaking Milk Duds

Milk Duds and Slo-Pokes were my favorite movie / concessions fare. You definitely had to generously soften Milk Duds in your mouth before attempting to chew. Do they still make Slo-Pokes?

You're not supposed to put the entire box in your mouth at once, Old Man Denture.

Pimple Faced Kid: I'm sorry, we're not supposed to put butter on the milk duds.

Homer: You're not supposed to go to the bathroom without washing your hands either!

Pimple Faced Kid: Touche

:D
