FORE! WCHA First Round - Michigan Tech at Denver

Re: FORE! WCHA First Round - Michigan Tech at Denver

He may not be connected by then. And I wonder how Duper is doing? Met him in Denver when the F4 was there, right before he took the job. Anyone know?

Thu: hockey talk.

Predictions:

Fri: Denver 6-1.
Sat: Denver 5-3.
That sounds about right, I doubt MTU gets shutout and I bet they get close on saturday because its the end of the line but I don't see it being much more...actually tonight MTU will probably score first even :p

Re: FORE! WCHA First Round - Michigan Tech at Denver

It would be nice to see Tech steal another playoff game, since we basically should never win one on paper. If it happens, we seem too have the best playoff luck on Saturday, the second game, but all 5 of our wins this season have come on a Friday.

With all the sudden injuries considered, assuming Olson is still out, I don't think we'll be getting another W.

Last I heard, Olson was injured but making the trip (and more than likely playing)?
No Baker, Van Wagner, nor Schooley

We won both Friday games in the Colorado Springs, were shut out on both Saturdays and won on both Sundays.

If Olson made the trip and is said to be "questionable", I suspect Russell is going to roll the dice and put him in the lineup. Perhaps he'll get less ice time than he would normally get, but if he's in Denver and not writhing in pain, I think he'll play at some point.

DU fans - I'm curious and maybe you can answer this question. Is CC's Nick Dineen related to former Pioneer and well-regarded NHLer Kevin Dineen?

The mere thought of that is sacrilege. The horror.... the horror...

I would just like to say every time I see the word ice in this thread I instantly think Ice Cream.

With that being said, I want Ice Cream.

Also I would like to say game in Denver suck because I hate waiting up for them to start. But hopefully I'll be able to listen (watch if it's on tv, but probably not) the UofM, State game.

Re: FORE! WCHA First Round - Michigan Tech at Denver

I'm pretty sure that is a resounding "NO!"

Good sources confirm that he would disown any offspring which even considered cc.

If he were related to Kevin, then he wouldn't suck (obviously) and only sucky players (or billie goats) go to cc...

WELL SAID!!!:D

Within the hour I went to, and have returned from, the Coors Fitness Cneter in the Ricthie Center on the DU campus. The fitness center was essentially empty owing to the fact that students are finishing exams in order to get outta town ASAP to start spring break.

The weather outside as I drove home was sunny with the temps hovering near sixty degrees.

On my way to the parking lot I stopped at the ticket office and asked how many tickets were available for this evening's game. I was told in excess of two thousand are still on hand.

The "crowd" tonight at the game--actual bodies in the building, not some fictitious number of tickets distributed and/or sold--will be somewhere in the vicinity of thirty five hundred to four thousand, in a building which holds rtight at sixty two hundred when full. It's a shame for the players, coaches and fans of both teams that nothing about the atmosphere surrounding this series shouts "playoff hockey."

It's too bad that Denver seniors will play their final home games in an atmosphere which does nothing to rival the season they have helped author. Still, I'm looking forward to the games this weekend.

1. School is going on on break, so there goes about 1,000 university connected people who tend to leave town. Happens every year and at a lot of schools, not just ours.

2. The #1 vs #10 matchup is unattractive. Plain and simple. DU just played Tech a few weeks ago.

3. The WCHA playoffs are a basically meaningless, protracted money grab by the league, and means very little in comparison to the regular season or the NCAA tourney. It's a little more than a sorbet in between two far more meaningful courses.

That said, I'll be there too.

Well, DU got the job done in game 1, 2-1. DU controlled the play outshooting Tech 40-20, but Robinson played well in denying DU chances. DU is in final exams, so they looked like a team that hadn't slept well - misfiring on lots of chances. Now that finals are over, I expect they will be sharper tomorrow.

Tech played good road hockey and had some decent chances, but not a lot of sustained offensive momentum.

Re: FORE! WCHA First Round - Michigan Tech at Denver

There were even less folks at the Merrimack @ Boston University Game, which surprised me.

DU doesn't get to keep any of the money for this event except expenses so they obviously put very little effort into marketing it. DU fans are not going to show up for a series like this unless they are playing Sconnie, UND, Minnesota or CC.
