My first would have been at RPI Field house in the late 60's. Probably a JV game with free entry and all the game pucks we could run down.
In the late 60's, when freshmen were not eligible to play on varsity teams, RPI had freshman teams, rather than JV teams.
Although I remember that there was at least one year when the freshman team had to use an upperclassman as its goalie, because the only goalie who had been recruited that year left school before the hockey season started.

My first NCAA hockey game was RPI vs. UCONN in October of 2004.
