Fire emery!

Re: Fire emery!

To fuel some fire into this thread...in the event Plattsburgh can not win the primelink...do we hang in the towel on the card and start looking for a new head coach for next season? It will be interesting to see how Plattsburgh plays when they visit Morrisville and Buffalo in the second half of the season. I would bet Emery will be fired up for those games. I wouldn't want to be a bengel or mustang during those games!

Re: Fire emery!

Even with a slow start if Plattsburgh is not in the SUNYAC finals come March, I will be shocked.

Re: Fire emery!

we're not all bad :p;) by the way...has there been any news on the availability of tickets to the game on January 29th? I am guessing they are selling tickets POSSIBLY to the general public beginning that Monday or is there another way they are planning on doing the Oswego game...still have yet to visit Stafford since the renovations.

unless they are gonna do things differently specifically for the Oswego game then they won't be selling tickets untill 5:30 the day of the game. I don't know why they don't sell tickets ahead of time but they stopped it this year, even for the students....

Re: Fire emery!

Don't take me too seriously.....I expect to see The Bird there at the end of the year, as usual, and I am truly looking forward to an excellent game in January......

Re: Fire emery!

I think he's a smart coach and will examine himself as well as the team. Then he will adjust as necessary. The goaltending was better against Fredonia, the shots are there the goals will come. I think after last year expectations became too high and the pressure was not good for these guys. It's early to jump off any buildings. Back to the drawing board.

Emery should sell tickets
I can not manage a "maybe ticket" being about 5 hours from Plattsburgh...darn...

50 Tickets will be given to the Oswego team for family/friends/etc. other than that, FCFS (which I think is BS).

It seems as though Plattsburgh might have been a little annoyed possibly with the basically full student section of Oswego showing up a few years back when a bus showed up on thier doorstep? Ever since then an Oswego student...or non Plattsburgh native for that matter...has had little to no luck getting tickets to any game in Plattsburgh.

Plattsburgh is continuing the practice endorsed by George Roll in his Oswego days, every trip to Oswego; it was "a "maybe ticket" after driving about 5 hours from Plattsburgh. BUT, the cavernous Romney meant not getting a ticket was extremely unlikely (I never failed to get enough for our party). The practice then, as now was IMO, unconscionable (but then again, that is pretty much consistent with much of Bruce's actions/inactions).

Actually I like it this way 100 times better! You want a ticket, get in line. Theres no playing phone tag, no "booster members first"....you want a ticket be there early Saturday morning. Emery was also quoted as saying that they will sell and sell and sell and sell standing room tickets. They don't want to turn anyone away, and at $8 I can see why.

Re: Fire emery!

I was thinking of coming out in January for that game, but if its unlikely that I'll get a ticket, I might not even bother.

Re: Fire emery!

For Heaven's sake, for a rivalry game home and home series - make an agreement to make a certain number of tickets available to the other side. Sell them a day ahead, and if they aren't sold out, require that they be released for sale on game day - it's not rocket science. If they don't sell, your fans get them. If they do, it adds to the atmosphere. Furthermore, you guarantee your fans a better shot at tickets to the game that you can sell when you are on the road. Hello?

while that logic makes sense, and I, along with a few others I'm sure, agree with it it would never happen.... Bruce and logic don't go together very well... I don't think they like eachother much.

THAT is logical, something far beyond Bruce's mentality.

Also, note, that Remy is correct, in that "you want a ticket be there early Saturday morning" - despite the fact that they don't go on sale until "beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the night of a game" spend ALL day in line, you probably will get a ticket.

Also, in the past (pre-renovation), it WAS handled as you noted.

When 80% of your tickets are already sold to season ticket holders, add in your "student section" which is actually starting to work, you only have a handful of seats left for your fans who are not season ticket holders. Is it then fair to give the away team all those seats? We are talking about maybe 300 seats left. On top of that its a big game, you have the coaching staff making sure they have tickets for recruits, tickets for sponsors, family tickets....and so on. As I said, get there and get there early and wait in line. They will have standing room tickets available. Just like the people that showed up to Oswego at 6:45 and expected to get tickets...sorry snooze you lose!

Re: Fire emery!

I am confused...If a bus full of Oswego students get to the rink at 6am and get in (start the) line, and tickets are available, will they sell them tickets and let them in?

Shouldn't have cut your capacity in half ;)

Since it is first-come-first-served, and as noted whatever tickets currently remain after removing the 50 visitor tickets, 300 student tickets, season tickets (additional sales cut-off), and "administrative tickets" - which includes coaches, ushers, sponsors, etc courtesy tickets, won't be sold until "30 minutes prior to the start of the game", if you get there at 6am and wait 13 and half hours, you will get a ticket (note the verbiage on the website assumes EVERY game starts at 7pm). Maybe Bruce enjoys "Black Friday" events, IMO, they are fine if given a reasonable choice - and no, expecting visiting team fans to purchase season tickets is NOT a reasonable choice.
