Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

It's too bad Red Light Lee gave up 3 goals in the first 15 minutes (11.73 GAA) the next time they faced Wisconsin though...otherwise we might be talking about SCSU being the team that got throttled by BC in the 2010 Championship Game. :p:D:D

Lee only gives up a lot of goals in tourney games. Other than that, he's stellar. However, the D knows how shaky he is so they really bear down when he's in net. That's the facts.

Hence the question, empty net or Red Light Lee?

Throttled is right. BADgers looked like they were skating in slow motion that game and were out of it almost immediately after the drop of the puck.

Speaking of out of it, Huskies shut down Nelson, Knight and Kristo and its lights out for Dakota. Hopefully they bring extra bread sticks from the Olive Garden for the long bus ride home.

UND's trio of Rowney-Parks-MacMillan had more points (13) than any other trio in the WCHA during the first round. So yeah.

Two games (against Bemidji) is too small of a sample size... Or else we could argue SCSU is the only team averaging surrendering half a goal per game in the first round

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

And if Carter Rowney wasn't lighting it up lately, you'd be right. But he is and you aren't.

How about since February?

10 games, 14 goals-17 assists-31 points for that line. North Dakota is not just a 1-line team...although it can be argued whether or not North Dakota needs to play more than just 3 players at a time with Red Light Lee in net.

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

So you're saying Nelson, Knight and Kristo are already shut down? Ah oh Dakota.

Either way while the SCSU Slopedbrows are busy trying to stop the Knight Line, Rowney's Rangers will be giving Red Light Lee's neck a sunburn.

Not so much. They have put up 9 goals - 15 assists - 24 points in the last ten games, and have only been held off the score sheet twice in that stretch.

North Dakota's record when that line is held off the scoresheet? 2-0-0.

Consider your thesis thoroughly destroyed. :p:D:D

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

Question: When did most knowledgeable hockey fans begin to call SCSU Jan Brady State and why? Do they consider it an insult or a compliment? And what do these people look like up close?

Nice try but I'm not buying. Dakota is too top heavy in scoring.

Shut down the top line and its one and done for the hostile and offensive boys.

Really?

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

Glad to see the North Dakota fans trying to come up with stats that explain how they are going to win. You're worried.

Answer: It's a lame Minnesota thing. I'd say more, but prefer to save the comments for Friday.

BADgers had a strong finish and expected them to play on Thursday. Surprised when I heard the radio call for Denver's goal in OT.

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

Will Saint Cloud fans make the game Thursday? The arena seems to be about 90% green every year regardless..

It goes back to at least the 2000-01 season and probably even before that. They are called JBSU because their fans often act like insecure / jealous younger siblings - aka Jan from the Brady Bunch.
Do they consider it an insult or a compliment?
It's definitely an insult. Although at this point it's such a long-running bit, I can't imagine too many get all that worked up about it anymore.
And what do these people look like up close?
St. Cloud fans? Mostly they are people that wear snowmobile jackets.

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

This game will be a nice warmup for Friday night, should get the guys stretched out. Is there Running time in the Final Five?

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

Ok... since February Mike Lee is 6-2-1, gave up 15 goals in 9 full games, and since they went to OT twice he I am assuming then has a sub 1.66 GAA.

I realize you're being tongue-in-cheek, but this "Red Light Lee" seems to be pretty tired and worn out already... and its only Tuesday. I also know there's probably some UND fans out there that think they're catching a break by getting Lee not Faragher. You're not. This notion that since Lee struggled in games against North Dakota with a completely different D-core in front of him, against a completely different team that no longer exists, all games that were not played in the current season, that has more relevence than how he's playing since he came back this season is ridiculous.

Its not like once Lee sees your hostile and abusive logo he begins to cringe.
