Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

I wonder what player Hackstooge is going to have Blood punch in the back of the head when they're not looking?

Rather ironic statement now that Taylor Johnson's last play of the season was a 5 min major for goalie interference. That's embarrassing.

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

I think that's the first time I have ever seen a major handed out for goaltender interference.

It was pretty ****ing blatant though. Maybe they kicked him out to keep Blood from attacking him in the handshake line.

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

The Johnson penalty was embarrassing. I hope he finds little playing time next year. If you are going to loose, hold your head high and loose with class. UND was the better team tonight.

Minus Johnson, SCSU has a lot of high quality young men on this squad. If they can return their top end players, I will be excited about next years team.

good luck in the playoffs. Let's keep the national crown in the WCHA 2 more years.

I cannot believe we had a lead after 2. St. Cloud won those 2 periods.

If Lee wasn't out in Left Field on Nelson's first goal, perhaps SCSU would not have needed to pull Lee?

Would have been nice if our defenseman hadn't let Nelson walk into the slot with no one within 5 feet of him.
Taylor Johnson is terrible and continues to prove he's terrible.
I've said it before and I will again, I'd cut the guy.

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

T. Johnson will not have much playing time next year and Zabs is gone. Our third line D will be much improved next year with Lauridsen and Prow coming in.

Festler had an off last game. I was hoping he would get to 100.

Congrats to all the seniors, I am going to especially miss Christian, Novak and Festler.

It should be nice to see Drew LeBlanc, Hanowski and Lee possibly back next year. In addition to Morley(concussion this year), Benik, Murray and Jairvelainen it looks like a very promising year.

Good Luck to UMD and Minnesota today and tonight.

I am not defending anything Johnson did last night and I agree it was a very stupid play. He is the one player on the team who will jump in and defend any of the others whether it is warranted or not.

I was really feeling Dowd's pain when he broke his stick on the empty netter. 6 on 5, Dowd (working very hard all game) and Prochno (pinching) along the boards trying to keep it in the O-zone and 4 other guys offer no defensive puck support.

It was really hard to watch that play develop. I also didn't like our faceoff formations with only one D back.

Gravel had to stop that. That was the game right there. Lee played well. Taylor Johnson i guess felt like he was the guy who had to prove something. Absolutely embarassing. I dont like using the word class or classless, that was just ridiculous. Your team lost, get over it and come back stronger next year.

I think i was one of the people sounding the Taylor Johnson alarm, trying to alert people to his garbage play, and that is acceptable. But running a goalie like he did tonight is trash, and as an SCSU fan i stood up and clapped, but only because he was called for the penalty and tossed. Sack up and take the L.

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

Gravel was a little outside and deep on his gap but I thought it was more Hanowski's laziness on the backcheck on that play.
He clearly could have hustled back, he reached, then his feet stopped moving and he glided, as soon as Brock sensed that lull he took the seam. He did the same thing to us in previous games.

Add to that the fact that Rabey will be back where he belongs on the blue line, not playing forward for an injury depleted team. Johnson shouldn't see much time next year, senior or not.

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

Does anyone have any info about the brawl in the crowd last night?

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

I was across ice and couldn't see who was involved. It's been reported that it was between a Sioux and gopher fan, but it looked like they escorted 4 people out, and one had a SCSU jersey. That's just what I saw, trying to shift focus from the game and the fight

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

I watched the brawl from directly across the rink. It was just to the left of the SCSU bench about 2-3 rows up. It looked like about 3-4 North Dakota fans in the second row, one with his shirt off.
There were 4-5 Minnesota fans directly above and to the right of them and the bigger younger guys to the right and the guy with his shirt off were taking swings at each other. There was also 2-3 SCSU fans upper left. It looked like a mom and some teenagers.
Security immediately came down and escorted the North Dakota and Minnesota fans out. They may have taken one SCSU fan (possibly the mom) who was in the middle of it but it looked like most of them were still there when the seats were empty. It looked like some other fans migrated down and took some of their seats.
At least 2-3 of the ND and 2-3 of the MN fans were swinging but not really hitting anything. Just wild over the top stuff.

too much. too soon.

hate to see crap like that, makes the rest of the fan base for each team look bad

Yes it does. Every fan base has their gems. For the most part all of the fans were great last night. That's how is should be. The only negative experience I had was 2 UND fans trying to start **** in the Men's bathroom with myself and another Husky(stranger). I called them out as "tough guys" and that diffused it pretty quick.

It's embarrassing to see grown adults engage in elementary school yard heroics.

Agree - minus the johnson play I felt they played well enough to have a legit shot at winning. Unfortunately UND just made a few more plays then we did. It's hard to be dissapointed with this team though - they overcame a lot and played hard to the bitter end.

Looking forward to a couple great games today....
