Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

Unlike your whiny bee-yotch of a coach, who says if he keeps losing players to Canada will just start stealing them from other programs.

no stealing involved... Mitch left because he wanted to be involved with a better program and school. can you blame him?

Yeah kinda, hard not to blame a player who leaves mid season because he wasn't happy with his ice time. Sounds like someone you don't want on your team anyway, and based on his hardly noticeable play I for one won't miss him.

Matchups
Line 1 possible swap with line 2 ---
SCSU Festler - Dowd - Eddy - 2 snipers on the wings and a grinder and pesky all energy center man -tends to draw some hooking calls when his stick lifts get too high on the hands or the opposition holds or drops the elbows down. Dowd has very solid defensive abilities. Festler needs to work on protecting the puck in traffic and the neutral zone - very good hands and tipper but doesn't effectively screen off the goalies eyes out front - a little small. Eddy's play has steadily improved all season. 82 pts between them.

2 great defensemen - Jensen and Prochno with 60 points between them, great skaters, great body position and effective puck protectors.

Line 1 ND Knight - Nelson - Kristo All three have great hands and puck presence and patience. They have a size advantage on SCSU. 115 pts -the line we have to stop

2 big good defensemen - Forbort and Blood - 26 pts between them

Line 2 SCSU Hanowski Novak Rabey 81 pts Hanowski - top scoring threat, Novak very fast, Rabey big- tough shot - converted from D to F - could possibly fit in Bertsch with speed and skill like last week
Gravel and Daley - 2 great stay at home defensemen although that have been very effective when they do jump up- 10 pts - gaining experience and confidence

ND --- MacMillan - Rowney - Parks 66 pts - solid second line Rowney with 30 pts the other 2 with 18 each
D MacWilliam and Mattson - 24 pts MacWilliam solid stay at home, Mattson with 18 pts jumping up

I'll have to do the third and fourth line later- work to do - I'll admit I don't know as much about ND so they can chime in with any player comments/observations.

I have to add that last time we faced ND - Kristo seemed to overhandle the puck at times.

Hopefully the goofer loser trolls crawl away and go back into their own thread holes.

Great new USCHO article. I'm picking the Huskies to win today. Sweet Polly Purebred, its Underdog time.

We don't have a thread yet because we don't know who we're playing. That will likely make you a troll in the next thread unless your squad pulls off an amazing game.

Another english major - try engineering - get to the point and get on with your life because it is way too short. I thought the thread was hockey not analyzing posts. I can create a thread for your passion if you like.

I'm an engineer. Does that mean I do this to? I must have been asleep in class when we reviewed the proper usage of a dash in sentence structure. Oh well, made it this far - yeah for me! :p

Steal? Like he drives to DU's campus, abducts a player after practice, bring him back to GF, enrolls him in classes, and keeps him chained to the ice in the nazi bunker? Pfft, sounds pretty radical to me where do we sign up?

Considering we defeated Dakota twice already this season, St. Cloud pulls off another 'amazing' game tonight.

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

I guess the Huskies needed to bounce one off the Whioux D-men and in and score 2 empty netters to equal Dell's stellar performance.

If Lee wasn't out in Left Field on Nelson's first goal, perhaps SCSU would not have needed to pull Lee?

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

His urge for the Red Light is strong.

Unfortunately for Lee, his defense in front of him was stellar.

In all seriousness, I do have to say that SCSU played extremely well, and outplayed North Dakota heavily throughout most of the 1st and 2nd periods. North Dakota took it to SCSU in the 3rd...perhaps an indicator that the Huskies expended most of their energy in the first two periods. Dell was the difference, but both defenses played extremely well.

Re: Final Five Quarterfinals: St, Clooud vs. Fighting Whioux

I can see why SCSU fans hate Taylor Johnson. Holy crap was that a stupid penalty.

No kidding, he had no hesitation in running Dell over. Not only was it stupid but it nullified any remaining hope of getting his team back into the game.
