Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

That's okay. In my last home game I watched Michigan beat us 7-1 and saw Kevin Hilton and Brendan Morrison go ham all night. I think Hilton had 6 points that night (and for once, I'm not exaggerating).

And I was looking forward to going down to the Joe and seeing this team play on Saturday, too. :( It would have been really nice to go down there, see some friends, have some drinks (well, maybe more than some :D), be stress-free, and enjoy watching us play, knowing full well our ticket to the tournament was already punched.

Goddammit.

stress-free....at the Joe? I don't know if you and that mix

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Since Air Force is up 3-0 on RIT, and I'm guessing that they're not going to pull a, well, us, and blow that 3-0 lead, I don't see any plausible scenario where Ferris gets a #1 seed.

We're going into the tournament as a #2 seed. Now it's just a matter of where. And whether our heads are out of our rectums when we take the ice.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

It looks like Green Bay, and it might be against Denver.

Better make sure we've got it together. This ain't Bowling Green. At least it better not be....

Well, your thread title is fitting for the upcoming week.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Well, I didn't mean it that way when I started it, but at the moment, I'll take it.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

No chance Ferris is out. In fact I can't see them falling below even a 3 seed and that's with a lot of things going wrong.

BG beat Notre Dame during our free fall but I chalked it up mostly to us loafing. After the last two weeks I think maybe they are better than what I gave them credit for, and perhaps both Northern and you guys fell victim to the same thoughts. Use the wake-up call better than the Irish did, I guess. Good luck the rest of the way.

Yea, I hate to say it but Bowling Green is for real. They are a very young team and they figured something out when they played Michigan at the end of the regular season. They then used that to beat Northern in Marqutte and Ferris in Big Rapids. I remember watching the first Michigan/Notre Dame game and following Ferris/Bowling Green on my phone at the same time. No one could believe that Bowling Green was beating Ferris. After Bowling Green took out Ferris (I'm still in disbelief) I became very worried about the league semi-final between Michigan/Bowling Green. That game went to fricking DOUBLE OT! Granted, Michigan didn't play very well the first 35 minutes of that game but still Bowling Green is the real deal.

Another team that scares me already for next year is Wastern. Of course I don't have to tell you guys about them.

It's Denver. In Green Bay.

Friday at 5:30 on ESPN3. Winner to get Michigan-Cornell winner.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

It's funny that several people think Ferris have no chance in hell of beating Denver, just what I like, no one to give us chance so we can surprised them!!

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

That's fine. We've got to play the way we did when we built up our cushion that allowed us to poop ourselves last weekend and still get into the tournament. If we do that, I can live with the results. If not, there will be another Mt. St. Hammer eruption.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Dare say Ferris is definitely more rested and probably healthier than DU.
(That's definitely an understatement)

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

INCH is reporting that Ferris and Duluth will join Maine and Cornell in the Florida College Classic next year.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

I was at the selection party today and it was great to see so many fans come out. The players looked happy but pretty reserved. One of the players parents said that after last weekend it felt like someone died. It also sounds like a lot of fans are going to be headed to Friday's game.

I think they have the talent, it's just a matter of whether or not they can capitolize on it. I'm excited that we are in a position to find out.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Is ESPN 3 really streaming it across the globe? I've never been able to get ESPN 3 to work outside of the United States, but maybe they've changed that recently and I just didn't notice.

Ferris is the favorite, so don't play the victim card just yet. :)

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

Ferris might be the higher seed, but they are NOT the favorite. We all know how much sandbagging DU does. I expect they will come with a full roster, ready to go. DU has so much talent that even if they are slightly banged up, it won't show. DU can be beat, but only by 60 minutes of total commitment.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

1:58 mark, DU coach seems to be one of few people outside of Big Rapids who have any sort of respect for Ferris heading into this tournament.

Re: Ferris State University Hockey 2011-2012 - A New Lease On Life

That's fine. Let people think what they want. The truth will reveal itself one way or the other tomorrow evening.

Hopefully this team has learned the lessons from the debacle from two weeks ago. We've got to play our game, and play like we're capable. Everything else will take care of itself.

This is what we play the season for, boys.
