Ferris State Hockey Student Section

Re: Ferris State Hockey Student Section

Have you been to a game since the new renovations Hammer?

Not since they put the new glass and flooring in. It's been a couple years.

When I was a student, the nets behind the glass would hang a little bit, and if the puck went out of play into the nets, it just hung there until we could quit fighting amongst our drunken selves to grab it. :D

Re: Ferris State Hockey Student Section

It's gotten real nice. It looks very new and clean in there now. The only problem is the glass is really tall now in front of the student section. And when you bang on it, the entire buildings glass isn't wobbling too. Lol it's firm...so it's not as crazy anymore, but still a very good atmosphere.

Re: Ferris State Hockey Student Section

I did not like the soft boards and the glass at the time, except for after we scored a (rare) goal. We used to bang and push on the glass after a goal, to the point where the glass hung out over the ice at about a 10 degree angle from the boards. For some reason after my freshman year they didn't like that so much. :D It's a miracle we didn't break something big in there.

The place holds roughly 2,450. Like I said, we're doing the best we can with what we've got. Sure, enrollment is up, but Mecosta County isn't exactly overflowing with money, either.

Capacity: 2,493

Have you ever seen this website before? It's a guide to all the CCHA Arenas. www.CCHAarenaGuide.com It is actually really cool. Our radio broadcaster made it, and gives a little blurb on his broadcasts about it here and there.

my favorite upgrade was the lighting. with the old lights, it took 3 minutes for them to get to full brightness after the introductions. and even when they were on, it wasn't bright enough.

Re: Ferris State Hockey Student Section

I dunno, man, the new glass and the paint job did wonders for that place.

Re: Ferris State Hockey Student Section

3. Maroon and Gold only means one team, and they're winless
Now now, the Ferris State Football team did manage to beat Tiffin this year. ;) :D

The place looks a lot better than it did when I was there in the 90's.
You were too drunk and talking about the thumbs in the Beef Stroganoff to remember what it looked like back then Hammer. ;)
I'm going to hell for that.
Perhaps the Dumby Barn is built out of granite.
:D :D WIN! :D :D

Oh and the ceiling looks low, that makes the arena look smaller.

How many times of year the year do they get their student section filled like that??

Yeah, with the ceiling low, it gets really loud in that building. They even have this loud horn too that goes off when they come out of the locker room and every goal.

I'll tell you one thing, those games are not against Michigan or Michigan state. They are vs. Canisius, and UConn, and I don't know which one the yellow ones were vs. But all in all, the Ewigiblen Ice Arena is a tough place to play. If you look at this right here, this is on the "Ferris State Hockey Student Sections" facebook as well:

It is Michigan State goaltender Jeff Lerg quoted "I have to say the three worst places for an apposing team are Michigan, Ferris State, and Western Michigan. Especially at Ferris State where the student section is right behind you for two of three periods..." And that is Michigan State's goalie, where they pack opposing arenas and student sections just from their name (except last year) so he would be a good source for the truth. Ferris has a good barn, they really do.

Re: Ferris State Hockey Student Section

Loud is always good! Would be interesting to see a game there.

I'd guess the yellow ones are against Michigan, since the first picture has somebody in a Michigan hat and what would appear to be a Michigan football t-shirt from a few years ago.

Everything that pops into our minds doesn't belong on a new thread. Trust me. You don't want to know what rolls through my head on a daily basis. Half the time I don't.
Half the time you don't know what is rollling through your head, or half the time you don't want to? ;)
