Re: Ferris State Hockey, 2012-2013: Okay, how are we going to top THAT?
Who said anything about a forecheck? Let's talk about Motte getting run a couple of times last night.
IIRC, your defenseman got a crosschecking penalty on one of those "runs", directly into Motte. I also remember him going out into the corner to play a puck and went out of his way to obstruct a forechecker killing a penalty. There were some scrums around the net where he got bumped, like the review on the play where the puck was covered up on the line saturday. But, I don't think there were any calls made for goaltender interference. That said...
I don't think any fan has a leg to stand on complaining about individual calls. The officiating during both games was horsebleep. Totally lost control with the extracurriculars. Alnike hit it on the head, though. Obstruction is allowed when the officials let both teams get away with it. The problem was, the cheap calls took that consistency away and the players were left wondering what they could do or what they couldn't do.
For every fan complaining about Trouba or Lynch, for instance, we can talk about Czarnowzan's dooshery. There was plenty that went around both ways. And please, explain the seven players on the ice that wasn't called in OT. I know Pi got an eyeful. If these guys were auditioning for the playoffs, or better- the WCHA/Big Ten officiating sweepstakes- they got massive fail. I thought Pochmara was one of the better officials in the league until that display this past weekend. Maybe that was just McInchak covering for him in the past.
Anyhow- I'm sure that Ferris earned a well deserved rest this weekend and, based on limited judgement of what we saw of both FSU and OSU- will do just fine in Columbus. Good luck.
