Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

I'm not signing up, but I'm guessing that there is a comment section in the online version of the Pioneer, and it's also my guess that my quotes (and my intelligence) are probably being taken apart like a rusty '78 Datsun.

There is a comments section, but it is as barren as Ewigleben during a 5:00 Saturday start. --- Sorry, I couldn't resist. You're safe. No one is killing you. At least not on that website.

Here is a part of the article that quotes Kirinovic on the change.

-- Kirinovic said the move to earlier Saturday start times was driven by an effort to create a more family-friendly option to attending games.

“(Fans with young families) like the fact that they can bring kids to the games and be back home in time to put young children to bed at a normal hour,” Kirinovic said. “In addition, we have received comments from other fans who like the fact that they can come to a game and then go out to dinner after the game.” --

They should find a way to give away all the remaining tickets to games in order to benefit from the increase in concession revenue.

Then they wouldn't sell any tickets as if you waited long enough you'd get them for free. Ferris education?

Well played. I'd likely laugh at the comments anyway, but whatever.

Hmmm. Those families must have come to the games dressed as empty seats. We'll see.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

I wish we would focus more on the team and less on issues of start times and whatever nonhockey related. I for one don't care what time the game is at, if you are a fan then you make the time to come to the games.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

I make it an issue because I believe that it has a direct effect on the attendance, 20% lower on Saturday so far on full home series weekends. You and I would show up no matter what time the game is. Apparently, others in Big Rapids don't feel the same way, and it's showing up at the gate.

Also, it's New Year's Eve, and we haven't played in two weeks. Might as well talk about this now. There's going to be more than enough hockey discussion, given our schedule for the next month.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Regardless, your numbers prove it is not working at Ewigleben.

Maybe you should change the name of your rink? Visiting fans don't know how to pronounce it and can't ask directions. Therefore attendence is down...?:p

Maybe you should add more exclamation points to your signature.

My New Years resolution is to no longer complain about Coach Bob Daniels.

It is a fact that he is going to be here forever and there is nothing that can be done to change that.

He's put together a good team this season and he's probably a front runner for the Spencer Penrose Award for the second time in his coaching career. (They should change it to be given to the coach of the team with the most surprising record.)

He does seem to recruit pretty well given the many disadvantages he has.

He has a knack for mentoring future coaches: Jeff Blashill (Indianapolis Ice), Seth Appert (RPI), Derek Lalonde (Denver).

...and we'll never find a coach that looks more like the school mascot.

Don't forget Jamie Russell, who recruited the 2002-2003 class !!!

WOW !!!!

I'll be sure to pass this on to the Ferris boosters (Blue Line Club and Solid Ice), they will appreciate it, and may be able to add to it!

Thanks again.

GO DAWGS !!!!

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

it was interesting to look at the career break downs of Nesbitt and Rallo, arguably the 2nd and 3rd best Ferris players this decade. Nesbitt quickly succeeded in the AHL. His first season for Rockford was very good but he never again found that form. He has never played for the same team in 2 consecutive seasons. I can only imagine what that does to his psyche. Rallo on the other hand got a slow start in the AHL but this year he is leading Texas in goals and points. And now he is the only Ferris alum. playing in the league just under the NHL. However, Rallo was not considered one of the top 30 prospects in the Dallas organization before the season started.

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Would Riedel still have eligibility this year if he didn't "leave" the program? I can't remember what year he was when he left...

Re: Ferris State Hockey 2009-10 - 2 minutes for slashing

Good question. I think he would be done, because he and Stefanishion were no more than a year apart, and he left after his sophomore year, and that was at least two years ago.

Upon further review, Riedel would have been a senior last year. His freshman year was '05-06. Stefanishion was a freshman in '04-05, so I was about right. Talk about what could have been with the talent those two had. Based on talent alone, had Riedel stayed, we could have been a tournament team in '07-08. We were much closer than people realize.
