EZAC??? I think not!!!

Re: EZAC??? I think not!!!

I think 31 is right. UND(7) DU(7) WI(6) MN(5) MTU(3) CC(2) UMD(1)

I believe their 37 comes from Bemidji State's D2-D3 national championships. I got a souvenir stick from the Minnesota Wild's 'Hockey Lodge' and was scrambling my brain why it was 37, and that's the only reason I came up with.

No, all D1 titles. They're counting Michigan, Michigan St., and Northern Michigan's titles that they won while members of the WCHA.

Re: EZAC??? I think not!!!

It's fun to see new uniforms on TV recently, and the ECAC has certainly represented itself very well, but let's not consider that conference hamstrung by their own illusionary restrictions on athletic scholarships... De-facto full-rides certainly exist all over the ECAC these days, disguised as "grants-in-aid", and those teams can recruit anyone who cares to attend.

Don't tell ESPN this. They're on a roll.

Re: EZAC??? I think not!!!

I try not to get into these debates, but the only thing I will say in response to fishman... Your beliefs are entirely incorrect, i would say 95% percent of ivy hockey players are playing some form of tuition and 75% are paying full tuition. I do not think the ECAC has a right to compare itself with the history and success of other conferences, but it makes me cringe when people use comments such as fishman, because whether they are the best hockey players or not, these kids are very bright kids who also happen to have a skill in hockey.

Really? Are you sure about that?

I'm sure that he can make up any random number he wants. I doubt that any of the ECAC schools have 75% of the students pay full tuition with all the financial aid availible.

Re: EZAC??? I think not!!!

In the most recent reported year, Yale students paid $255 MM of a nominal $494 MM of tuition and room and board charges. So there's a lot of financial aid. None of this is broken out by athletes by non-athletes, because none of it is calculated that way. Hockey players get the same financial aid package as microbiologists. Hockey players get clear preferences in admission, but financial aid is calculated the same way for everybody. Nelson Peltz, one of the richest men in the world, has a son who until recently was on the hockey team. I assure you he paid full fare. You don't know what anybody on the hockey team paid without looking at the financials of their parents. You can sometimes get an indication by where the student came from, although that is a weak indicator. I would suspect (without knowing anything about it, I hasten to add) that Yale captain and ECAC first-teamer Andrew Miller pays full fare, not that it's anybody's business.

Re: EZAC??? I think not!!!

Who cares how many title you've won. That's like saying my habs are the best because they have won more titles than pit and boston combined!!! You stuck up WCHA fans were all posting on these boards that you should have an all WCHA frozen four!! Maybe u can put 4 losers together and have your own tourney Call it 'best of the rest' lmao. GO UNION WITH A REPEAT VISIT TO THE DANCE. THAT'S WHAT I SAID WCHA, A REPEAT VISIT. 2000 students and no full rides doing what all your so called nhl draft picks teams can't!!

"So called" NHL draft picks? Are you implying they aren't really draft picks? The media guides just made it up?

Look, I'm happy that the ECAC is doing well. Glad Yale won both of the games they did. Happy for the Q and Union and happy BC got knocked out. But all this needs to stop. Trust me, I hate UND and MN way more than you guys do, but how about this.... enjoy the fact that the ECAC is doing well THIS WEEKEND. Don't start talking about how you could hang with the WCHA over a full season bc a) most people who know college hockey feel that's COMPLETELY false. And b) who cares? This is your weekend, enjoy it! Enjoy the Frozen Four.

Nothing upsets me more on Easter Sunday than ECAC fans running their mouths so much I have to stick up for UND and MN fans!

Re: EZAC??? I think not!!!

What will all the WCHA people being saying next year when 7 of the teams leave for other conferences? If the WCHA is so good why are these schools leaving the conference?
