ESPN sucks

Re: ESPN sucks

Why does it matter? They went with the more rare event and the one that gets the higher ratings. Don't let it hit you in the chip in the many shoulders that hockey fans already have with ESPN and or basketball.

Re: ESPN sucks

It's ESPN so not that unbelievable.

At first it sounds like a big deal but doesn't ESPN and ESPN2 come as a set package for all the cable and dish systems. ESPNU and the others are often in extra packages and vary between providers.

A bigger gripe, is between all the networks, why was any of the games on the internet streaming ESPN3. They could have got all games of the tournament on the tv channels with the use of ESPN News. Although with that, it would have been easy to keep the Frozen Four on ESPN and add basketball to ESPN2.

It would be nice to see ESPN ramp up its hockey coverage with the NHL's 2016 World Cup of Hockey in Sept. I'm excited to see the event but skeptical that ESPN will actually do it justice. They could have used this tournament to ramp up hockey coverage and try to attract more causal fans to the sport. Media creates public opinion in today's world- If ESPN didn't treat hockey as a second-tier sport and give it more priority like football and basketball, US sports fans will take notice.

Re: ESPN sucks

Classic. Exactly what I would expect.

Let the whining about a business decision commence.

I remember when some people were whining about the NCHC teams making a business decision... classic. I believe that this is the same espn that would roll regular season lacrosse games go into regional games. This should be a surprise to no one.

Re: ESPN sucks

ESPN only shows hockey because hockey is tied into bigger contracts (bouncyball, football). And AFAIK, it's always been on the Deuce, at best.

Hey, it's on tv. Be thankful.

The championship has been on the mothership every year since the '04-05 NHL lockout, except this year, and coincidentally 2012, when it was also in TB.

I believe ESPN will be showing NHL hockey soon. Turning of the cheek?

NBA only appears on ESPN, never ESPN2 - part of their contract

There are always those 2 regional games that are ESPN3 only, and that's not a new thing. ESPNews is better served as an overflow channel, remember, there is also a lot of woman's basketball that weekend that need overflow as well .
Moving forward, whether a game is on a broadcast network, a cable tv station, or the internet becomes less distinct

Ok, thanks for the info. The question in that case is, what is on the mothership instead of the championship? Gotta follow the dollar.
