Re: EMERGENCY - I'm drinking and the old drinking thread is closed!

Just found out that a grocery store that has a decent beer selection will be raffling off a couple bottles of Rare Bourbon County Stout at each of their locations

Keeping my fingers crossed... I don't think a ton of people go to this place despite the decent selection... But who knows... It's a total crapshoot...

Just stopped at the liquor store at my parents in Hartford Wisconsin. They already had BCS out, no limit. I picked up 4 bottles

I'd hush on that. If it's this year's.....

They could get in real trouble for that. I know GI ships BCS out early, to release on Black Friday, and they are like New Glarus on the restrictions/rules.

FYI, we're creeping up on last call for the busiest day of the year at the bars, as measure by total liquor sales.

Re: EMERGENCY - I'm drinking and the old drinking thread is closed!

We haven't done our traditional Thanksgiving Eve bar night in years.

Also, I'm fairly confident NYE or Christmas Eve is busier than Thanksgiving Eve.

Nope. Think about it:

People drink because they don't want to deal with relatives, they are out of town and on the town (and don't want to deal with relatives), bonus party day, etc etc etc.

And I think more and more people are staying home (or with friends) on NYE because hey, "amateur hour!" Secondary reason: the whole DUI/cops everywhere that night.

I found a bunch of articles that state Thanksgiving Eve. From personal experience, back when I played league hockey we always had a game on Thanksgiving Eve. After the game, we'd go to the bar and it's always packed. The last year I played, we had to go to three bars before we found one that had capacity to take us.

Here's an NYC specific list I found, number one at the top, ten at the bottom. NYE isn't even listed, which surprised me, likely specific to NYC with its celebrity appearances and population makeup pushing Cinco de Mayo into the list. Around my office, it's a day that people mention will have a few drinks at home or a party somewhere, but not spend it at a bar.

Thanksgiving Eve
Christmas Eve
Championship game night/big game night
Cinco de Mayo
St. Patrick’s Day
NYC Marathon Day
Kentucky Derby
Celebrity Appearances
Christmas
Halloween

The Dragon's Milk was worth every penny. I'll have two tonight.

The variants are even better. Right now, I'd rank them

1. Coffee/Chocolate
2. Chiles
3. Raspberries

I am having the coffee/chocolate. I want to go down to the New Holland brewpub and see if they have the variants, because Meijer only had the coffee.

I really thought that order would be reversed, given my tastes. Either way, I could drink those *ers all day.

Well, I will get at least one bottle of the Goose Island BCS. One of my stores called me. I'll have to stop by my other store to see if they set 1-2 aside for me. :)

Edit: got 2 total bottles, both the regular BCS, thankfully.

I'm just going to put this here.

And, yes. What if these were beer?

Personally I love them. Don't you judge me.

People were lined up overnight at some stores, and got multiple bottles. I wanted none of that. Stuck to 2 local stores. 1 store had a reserve list, and the other one saves them for certain customers, no "official" list. I'm one of those customers. :)

Also, many stores put a 1 bottle limit in place.
