The Nein COULD be there (smoked Hefeweizen, came out recently, and not THAT hard to find in the Mpls area). Good luck on Darkness. And an angel would have to deliver a barrel-aged Darkness. Rumor is only 1500 bottles are hitting the outside market. The other 1500 were sold at Darkness Day.

Yes, I have one. :D

Well, hope that nothing really major happens between now and F4 St Paul. That's my "drop-dead" date for the BA Darkness. I might share with a close friend or two.

Eh, I have my own bottle, and I'm thinking I'll be able to get another.

If you have a chance to buy Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat Barrel-Aged with Vanilla and Cinnamon, do it. Friggin delicious.

I did. :D

Hit up a few stores, struck out on the Clown Shoes and BA Rasputin, but 2 stores have my number and will call me if they get it. However, pretty successful hunt overall:

Surly Darkness (all Haskell's had a noon release today; line started at 11:30ish, glad I showed up at that time)
Leinie's Big Eddy Cherry Doppleschwarz: Never even HEARD of that coming out. Based on BE reputation, bought a 4 pack.
Avery Reverend
Avery The Czar
Avery The Beast x2 (this is one of those 17%ers...had it before, and it's quite good)
New Belgium Cocoa Mole x2
Evil Twin Pils al Pastor (bought based on brewery reputation; haven't seen this one before)
Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat w/Vanilla and Cinnamon (4pk, x2).
Alesmith Wee Heavy
Also found Stagg Jr. Wanted to buy 2 bottles, but limit 1...*shrug* I just have to go back tomorrow, I guess.

Holy sh*f*. Delicious. The cinnamon is the endgame on this beer. Tallgrass dropped the mic on this beer.

Are there different versions of this beer? Binny's lists the Barrel Aged Buffalo Sweat, but nothing about Vanilla and/or Cinnamon versions... Also, it's only at locations on the North end of the Chicago area :( Didn't see anything at my local places...

Since it's raining and kids are few and far between, picked up some Surly Hell and The Poet by New Holland... So happy that Dark Beer season is here :)

There is the BA version, and then the BA w/vanilla and cinnamon. The latter....it's downright SICK on how good it is.

Got some Clown Shoes Flight Of The Angry Beast and Ride The Wendigo (RTW is MN exclusive) today. 2 of each, and I have more coming. Cannot wait to try these.

Re: EMERGENCY - I'm drinking and the old drinking thread is closed!

I'm disappointed that it isn't offered down my way. It sounds spectacular.

The BS BA Van/Cinn....it's pure crack. I honestly put it top ten, hands down. If the choice was dump Odells Lugene Choc Milk Stout, so I could actually have the BS BA VC? I'll dump the Lugene every time.

Re: EMERGENCY - I'm drinking and the old drinking thread is closed!

I'll give a bit of my drinking updates from vacation and the last few weeks.

If you are ever in Rome on vacation be sure to hit up Open Baladin in the Campo de Fiore district, awesome craft beer bar, they make a lot of their own and have lots of other Italian craft beers. Also the white chips, homemade potato chips with pecoromano cheese and garlic were to die for. It's a little difficult to find the first time I went their was a rainy day and I was looking to chill out and have a few beers and wandered around trying to find it, I new I was in the right area just couldn't find it. Temple Bar, which is near Pantheon in tourist center was okay a typical Irish Bar in another country

Wayan Sour A sour Saison beer was excellent, I am a fan of sour beers
Baladin Super 8 percent Belgian Ale Excellent Belgian Ale
Isaac Dry a good Dry witbeer
Rubus 5% an American style raspberry wheat beer not overwhelming on the raspberry

I had 2 Poretti beers of note in Italy
Poretti Italian Pale Ale, Angelo ok but I wouldn't consider it an IPA more a regular pale ale
Poretti#9 witbier a pretty good witbier

rest of the trip I mainly was forced to drink Peroni except for Sicily where I had Semedorado a pretty good Sicilian lager

Last week I had 2 extremely weird beers

Not Your Father's Root Beer, I'm not a huge fan of root beer but except for a little bit of an aftertaste I couldn't even tell this is an alcoholic drink, it's 5.9%.

Ballast Point Habernero Sculpin This beer has a serious burn that hits you about 2-3 seconds after is goes down, the bartender didn't think I would finish the bottle. Definitely not my kind of beer, though I really didn't have any negative effects other than the burn but I just had one bottle.

Einstok Icelandic White Ale my first beer from Iceland was an okay white ale pretty mild

Dogtoberfest Didn't miss all the Octoberfest beers while out of the country ok but the Germans make the Octoberfest beers better.

Thanks to a buddy, got 3 more each of the Clown Shoes mentioned above, as well as 2 bottles of Sierra Nevada Barrel-Aged Narwhal. :D

Re: EMERGENCY - I'm drinking and the old drinking thread is closed!

Played the part of a Sheeple (Surly fanboy) at a place called New Bohemia today.

Showed up at 10:45, they open at 11. I was probably around 100th in line (capacity of the place is about 250).

Three: absolutely delicious. Braggot, and they did it right.

The vintage Darkness was only available for a Darkness flight, no biggie. Had that. The 2011 was mellow beyond mellow. 2014 was perfect, Damien was subpar (relatively), and 2015 a touch of booziness, but excellent.

Syxx: better than I remember it. Whether or not that is due to its aging, or simply me having it long before I went full tilt into the rare craft beer world, I don't know.

Mole Smoke: Very good, but when it was cold, it prison-raped my palate. As it warmed, it got better and more mellow, and even more to my liking.

Unfortunately, they ran out of the 2015 BA Darkness, as SteveMN and I were *thatclose* in line. At least we both know that we have some at home, so not a TOTAL loss, but still would have liked to try it.

JS Online reviews some seasonal beers and I think I need to find the last one - New Belgium Ben & Jerry's Salted Caramel Brownie Brown Ale. It sounds like it could be really awful, but the reviews were not horrendous.

It's flavored water. Not kidding. Old Chicago has it on tap, I tried it. There's NOTHING to the taste/body/etc. Don't even bother.

I mentioned on GPL that I'd say it tasted terrible, but there's hardly any taste.

For seasonal, Founders Backwoods Bastard is excellent, and you can age it a bit, too. Also, as you saw on the Tweeter, Tallgrass Barrel-Aged Buffalo Sweat w/Vanilla And Cinnamon is crack in a can. Let it warm a little before drinking to get the full flavor. When it's ice-cold, you lose a LOT of the cinnamon flavor.

And then there's the Dragon's Milk variants: Raspberry, Chiles, and Coffee/Chocolate. I cannot wait to try those.

What Brent said, don't waste your money on it. I bought it hoping it was going to be like a Dairy Cream Ale I had before which was really good, it wasnt

aw, I'm disappointed. No wonder they said it was for people who don't like beer. I'm picking up some of the Buffalo Sweat on Sunday (the fancy grocery store by my mom's house has it).
