Elmira's Casey Tuttle

While surfing the TV tonight, came across the Elmira Jackals game and low and behold, there was Casey Tuttle, dressed in a Jackal's uniform. He was "warming the bench" but he was dressed. Good to see another EC player given a chance at the "Pros"
Congrats Casey

Congrats Casey

With the Jackals having a legit shot at the Kelly Cup this year I didn't figure there would be any tryout contracts this spring... That being said; I'm not all that surprised to hear Casey is getting a shot. Good news, congrats to Casey!

Re: Elmira's Casey Tuttle

Dumb question but you dont get paid on a amateur tryout agreement right? Why not a pro tryout contract since he is a senior?

What a great recruiting tool the Eagles have with a pro team locally and moving guys up.

Also, EC made NCAA tourney 4 of the last 5 years correct?

Correct.

2006: W 2-1 (3 OT) @ Manhattanville, L 2-1 vs Middlebury in Frozen Four @ First Arena
2007: Didn't make it.
2008: W 6-1 vs Trinity, L 6-3 vs Plattsburgh @ Placid in Frozen Four
2009: L 2-1 vs Neumann Play-In Round
2010: W 4-1 vs Curry, L 2-1 (OT) @ Norwich in Quarterfinals

EC really likes those 2-1 games...:( :o

Looks like Casey got some ice time last night. 7:48 to be exact (gamesheet). I was thinking about going, but with Reading so close in the standings, I didn’t think Elmira would ‘take a risk’ and put him in. Stupid me... I was wrong!

A snipit from the game recap:
“...Ellis stopped 20 of 26 shots, falling to 13-5-1-1 with Elmira. He was replaced late by former Elmira College goaltender Casey Tuttle, who was perfect on four attempts.

Nicely done, Casey!

Here’s hoping he sees a good amount of play on Sunday vs. Johnstown (4:05pm game at First Arena - -subtle plug!). At least 4 tickets are being purchased by this resident for just that reason.

Cheers!!!

Nuts.

Nuts.

Well, saved myself a couple bucks, and get to rake-up all the leaves left-over from the Winter winds...

from Jackals Newsroom said:
...Goaltender Andy Chiodo has been reassigned to the Jackals by their NHL affiliate, the Ottawa Senators from their AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, right winger Keegan Dansereau has been recalled by Binghamton, emergency backup goaltender Casey Tuttle has been released.

Stay tuned...

Re: Elmira's Casey Tuttle

Tough to stick even if you are better than some of the other guys. These teams stick with draft picks unless the free agent knocks their socks off. Sometimes you don't even get the chance to show your stuff. Hope he perseveres, someone will give him a shot.:)

Re: Elmira's Casey Tuttle

In today's Elmira Star Gazette:

* Notes: The Jackals have signed Elmira College senior forward Rusty Masters to an amateur tryout agreement. Masters was team captain for the Soaring Eagles this past season and had 16 goals and 21 assists in 29 games. He didn't play Sunday but will be able to suit up for Wednesday's game against the Royals.

Good for Rusty! source

Re: Elmira's Casey Tuttle

Apparently Masters is getting a second go around with the Jackals as some players were "loaned" to the AHL. I believe Elmira goes right from Johnstown tonight to Florida to start a playoff series. I wish Rusty good luck and hope he makes a positive impression!

On a sidenote, a sad day in minor league hockey. The Johnstown Chiefs (Charlestown Chiefs of Slapshot fame) is having their last game tonight. The team is relocating to South Carolina for next season. The end of an error is always sad, and Elmira is up 3 - 1 on them after 1.

Don't mean to hijack the thread or anything, but what is it with minor league teams moving to the Carolinas. The AHL's Albany River Rats are moving to North Carolina following the season, leaving the area pro hockey-less. Many folks in the area aren't incredibly pleased with the move as I'm sure people in the Johnstown area feel the same.

Also, congrats to Casey and Rusty, great to see more d3 players making it in the pros. What I'd pay to go see, however, would be Buffalo's Alan "the dancing goalie" Fritch.
