Elmira College Soaring Eagles 2010-2011 Season Thread

Re: Elmira College Soaring Eagles 2010-2011 Season Thread

Just want to give an early "Welcome to Adrian" to all of you coming to the game. We hope you enjoy your visit to SE Michigan.

I can tell you that my daughter and son in law could not get their regular season tickets because they are in section B which was set aside for our guests. We don't have the biggest arena in the NCAA but we think you will find it nice and an enjoyable venue to watch this NCAA playoff game.

Drive safely and lets all enjoy the experience.

No shame in this one Eagles. They skated well with Adrian all night and need quit the game until the end. Adrain just took it to another level tonight. And from the bottom of my heart, I thank you for pushing the Bulldogs to that level.

You said it best; "Adrian took it to another level". Elmira has a hard time doing this when it comes to the NCAA's, year after year. Starting to wonder if they ever will win a championship. Star-Gazette for once got the headline right "EC starts fast, then flops".

While losing sucks. This program has made the NCAA tourney 4 years in a row. *Overall it's a very strong program that always competes for a national championship. And for that I'm proud.
Now I want Adrian to win it all, always better to get beat by the champs

+1

On another thread, I noted my Eastern favorites, Plattsburgh, Morrisville, Potsdam, Oswego, Norwich and Elmira. With Plattsburgh not in it, I agree, I would like to Adrian go all the way, in my case, it is out of respect and admiration for the school and their commitment - and risk - at starting a new Division III program. They took on the challenge knowing that they had didn't exactly have an abundance of "local" teams to compete against, and forged ahead from the ground up - figuratively and literally building the Arrington Ice Arena. IMO, despite being a homer (Plattsburgh, SUNYAC, East), they took out one of the East’s finest, they deserve it - Go Bull Dogs.

Re: Elmira College Soaring Eagles 2010-2011 Season Thread

It's interesting how Adrian has gone from hated to being well-respected and liked on this board by the majority of the poster population in just a few short years.

I never hated Adrian or even disliked them and after meeting some last year in Oswego and at the Northfield Savings Bank Tourney, they're a good group of fans.

I can't find the thread but I'm pretty sure at the beginning of the season I called Adrian making it to the FF (not the predictions I made in January) I may have even nailed the exact field.

Another EC season has come to a close and once again, the Soaring Eagles just can't get over the hump :(...It's becoming madingly frustrating and you always keep thinking in the back of your head is it really ever going to happen? Now I know what St. Norbert felt like for all those years.

However, the bright side for EC is I thought they were a year ahead of schedule on having as great of a season as they did this year, especially after the way they started so poorly. Look at the roster. Elmira loses just four players and only two that played significantly. The large junior class that returns as seniors next year will have a mission to go out on top with a bang.

This team returns A TON of talent and next year will be "their year" if there was ever one since 2006 or the early 90's. Add in a couple players with another good recruiting class and Coach Saul could be sitting on a gold mine next year and return as one of the preseason favorites to win it all.

Prez- with all due respect but have heard this many times before "Great returning class" wait until next year. Hope you are right!

I know. But this team literally does only lose four players and the current junior class is the one that did the majority of the scoring. They return their top two defensive defenseman and the goalie that coming into the quarterfinals had the best save percentage in the country.

Next year is Elmira's now or never year. Trademark it.

Re: Elmira College Soaring Eagles 2010-2011 Season Thread

Ar the start of this season, most of us had written EC off for this year due to the goalie situation, rough start, and even the ECAC-W Coaches had us picked to finish third in our Conference. A huge turn around after the Christmas break and there was little stopping them, a loss and two ties, who would have thought. They finished first place, and won the Championship, first time on home ice since the '90 s that in it self was worth the season.
A dissapointing end in the quarterfinals for a second year in a row hurts, but, I for one never expected to see them there back around Thanksgiving.
Great year in the end and they have absolutly nothing to be ashamed of.
Good Luck Adrian, you'll have me cheering for you in two weeks, next year you can come to Elmira ;-)

Indeed Elmira fans have a lot to look forward to. The nucleus of this team is extremely quick and very skilled.
The future is bright. Congratulations on a great season.

To the faithful following that made the trip to Adrian, I enjoyed meeting you, and look forward to more opportunities in the future. I'll be watching your team with a great deal more interest now, having met the classy group from Elmira.
