Elmira College 15-16

EC v Geneseo

EC v Geneseo

So EC has played 5 ranked teams in its last 8 games, beaten 4, taken the 5th to OT, is ranked 8th overall in the KRACH, has the #1 SOS, and is still at the bottom of the ECAC/W ... [scratches head]. The ECAC/W has an overall 0.734 winning percentage Out of Conference and a 0.765 against the Sunyac. This is one macabre season!

Tonight Dr Jekyll showed up for the first 15 minutes, then Mr Hyde then appeared and put a lickin' on Genny. #11 got a hat trick, and #10 got the benefit of an own goal.

EC and Downtown

EC and Downtown

Saw an interview yesterday with the County Exec talking about a larger plan to move the focus and locus of the college to downtown. EC and LECOM (an osteopathic medical school from Erie Pa) are currently in negotiations to bring a satellite campus to the downtown area.

The community's hope is that the infusion of another few hundred young, debt-rich, graduate students in the City will contribute to the revitalization of the area. Bringing the hockey teams downtown is just a small component of the larger rather ambitious goal of increasing the amount of housing, commercial, food, entertainment and retail businesses in the City.

Just saw this on WENY... Fan Favorite Taylor Love returns to Elmira to play... for the Jackals!! Signed a Standard Player Contract (see link, below). Welcome 'home' Taylor. Looking forward to seeing you play again tonight.

Whittle Is playing tonight. Boys look great so far, dominating play. Let's hope they can keep it up for 40 more mins.

Re: Elmira College 15-16

Does anyone know, When was the last time Elmira finished in last place? What a waste of good talent this year.

Re: Elmira College 15-16

WOW..what has happened?

Most people I've talked to blame Coaching, some believe that the College isn't "interested" in winning, just attracting students. If this team continues as is, it's going to be much harder to recruit, moving downtown will not help.

Re: Elmira College 15-16

I only know about when Ceglarski was coaching, that tradition of EC Hockey was what the team was ruled by. There was a lot of discipline.
Arron played then coached under Ceglarski. You think he would use some of the same style. I just notice the last few years they have had lots of PIM. Back in 2006-2009 there sure was a great mix of players . Lot of good hockey players and better kids. I sure Arron will get things right.
GO EC in the West Tourney and Good Luck to the team and coaching staff.

Re: Elmira College 15-16

Ive been an EC season ticket holder for 32 years, but after watching that playoff game on the Utica feed, the only thing worse then the announcing team was our team. We stink---from the AD all the way down.

The women's team is doing well so do they care about how poorly the men's team has finished the last few years? I think this is the second year in a row they've finished at or just below .500. Defense and goaltending have definitely been an issue the last two seasons.

It's amazing how well Hobart has done the last two years despite their awful rink. Maybe Elmira needs to expand their degree options but I don't know what the issue is.

It's a little bit easier to stay near or at the top of the women's side with a lot less females playing hockey and really only a handful of schools you can go to win a national championship. It's quite different on the men's side with parity.

On the women's side right now the only schools that really have a prayer at winning are Plattsburgh, Elmira, Norwich, Middlebury, Amherst, Adrian and then perhaps Lake Forest and River Falls.

There is a huge gap between Plattsburgh and this group this year and still a pretty big gap between this group and the next tier of programs. It fluctuates a little year in and year out but in all reality, all the schools listed above are going to make the Frozen Four 9 times out of 10 with sometimes one outsider sneaking in.

The irony is deafening

The irony is deafening

So the ECAC/W is on the cusp of regaining its autobid, while coincidentally, EC has probably the poorest prospects of winning it since the West last had a bid in '05. Disappointing. Screw RIT.

Edit: On second thought, screw Mercyhurst, Canisius, Niagara, St Bona, SUNY Binghamton as well!
