Eclipse 2024

Northern lights happen all of the time. Literally. You can see them over Lake Superior easily. And we hope to see them in Finland, too. But to see what I just saw, who knows if we will travel again to see the next one.

Seems that some of you are pooping on this
because you can’t see it.

Jesus fucking Christ how did I poop on it? Why are you so defensive? Because I’m not mad that I haven’t seen a totality and I found the northern lights experience to be amazing? I said I’m not mad I haven’t seen one yet, would like to someday. I’m not the one moaning here, thanks for telling me what I like is so common even though I’ve only managed to see it twice in my life. I didn’t shit on anything and you come to lecture me on northern lights lol while others are whining about how stupid the eclipse is

Lake Placid had 100% totality. It actually a lot more emotional than I thought. Yeah, I may be weird, but I probably won’t get to see it again, the next one is in 2044 over North Dakota. I’ll be 63 years old and might not get a chance to go. After that is is 2079 and chances are I won’t be on this Earth. So for me, it was a very cathartic experience

The difference is like an orgasm.

if you get 98% of the way there, you're going to be so disappointed compared to totality

I vehemently disagree with the poohpoohers. That was nothing short of spectacular. It's indescribable and I can see why it could change the course of history in medieval times.

I get what you're saying. I respectfully disagree :-)

Hopefully my reply didn't make it seem like I was attacking you.

I'm not one of the pooh pooers, just doesn't float my boat. Just like the hordes of people who flood my town every fall just to look at leaves. Meh.

Now, when I left for work early one morning and looked up at the night sky just at the right time to see the space station flying overhead, that was cool.

Hoardes of people in areas I have no interest going lol. Of the path of this one, Maine and Vermont are only places I’d like to travel to. Get stuck in traffic in Indiana? Shoot me.

I’ll make a trip of it soon to a place I actually want to visit.

When I saw this a few minutes ago, I thought there would be no better place to share this than here ...

The next total eclipse is August 12, 2026.

Northern light actually happen all of the time. Like we saw them last Sept in Houghton looking out of our hotel room. There's an app for it, even.

Total solar eclipses. not so much.

Not the same.

While I'm glad you get so moved by northern lights, until you see totality...

Just remember, partial <<<<<<<< total. Until you see the corona and some solar flares (which I didn't expect), don't be so certain that you think it will be "meh".

Ou there’s apps? lol I’ve had them for years. You need conditions to be right- namely no light pollution and no clouds.

go yell at the people who actually pooped on the totality and quit shitting on me.
