ECAC West Div III race

Re: ECAC West Div III race

Incorrect.

According to the latest report from the ECAC, all ECAC west teams are eligible for the playoffs this year on both the men's and women's side.

Interesting. Just curious, is that a change from an earlier position, or was that the case all along for this season ?.

All I can say is Plattsburgh better learn how to beat a team that's ahead of them in the rankings or their season will be shortlived!!

As much as it pains me to point out, Plattsburgh did beat RIT a few weeks ago, when RIT was the unanimous #1.

Re: ECAC West Div III race

From a week ago -

The ECAC league office released the following statement by e-mail for the purposes of this column on Wednesday night.

“At this time, no ECAC West Ice Hockey programs (Men’s or Women’s) have one or more student athletes receiving the Canadian International Student Initiative Grant. All such grants for student athletes were discontinued prior to start of the 2011-2012 academic year. As a result, all men’s and women’s programs within the ECAC West Hockey leagues are eligible for postseason play.”

Currently, Neumann sits in fifth place in the ECAC West with a 5-7-2 record in league play and a 6-9-2 record overall. As of today, the Knights would qualify for the postseason tournament and travel to Oswego State for a play-in round game. However, Potsdam sits just one point behind and Utica is still within striking distance with two games in hand and four points behind the Knights.

1st and 2nd place teams get a first round bye. 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5. 3 and 4 host.

Re: ECAC West Div III race

Yea because when you oushoot someone by 46 shots it was a real close game.....
I totally agree!!! I was at the Cortland series and the Cortland goalie played out of her mind in the first game! 60 shots on goal and only three went in! A goalie that is on fire can happen at any time and on any team and is in no way a reflection of the caliber of talent on the PSU team.

8-7...???...Nope....

Chip:cool:

Yes, PSU lost 8-7 to Norwich. It was a heartbreaker, and it could have just as easily been Norwich on the losing end. I find it interesting how there are no remarks about how does Norwich let a team ranked lower than them, take them to OT twice in one season???

And I have one more question.....how does PSU drop in the rankings after winning two games this weekend, yet Amherst and Middlebury go up after losing? Just wondering???

It just goes to show rankings are pretty meaningless (unless you are the BCS). A good example is the person who didn't rank RIT number 1 ended up ranking them 4th looking at the point totals. I'm guessing at least one of the teams the person ranked about RIT, RIT actually beat (Norwich and Amherst). The only rankings that do matter are the NCAA ones for getting into the tournament. Other than those, it really doesn't matter.
