ECAC West 2012-2013 Predictions

Re: ECAC West 2012-2013 Predictions

Hopefully in a good way. You will now buy a ticket with a seat number. I don't know, but I would guess that there are a block of seats behind the visitor's bench which are set aside for visiting fans. I will try to find out this week.
"Visiting fans can contact the Aud 24-48 hrs prior to the game to request a section or seat of choice and the Aud will accommodate based on availability."

Re: ECAC West 2012-2013 Predictions

Good luck getting seats in the lower bowl behind your bench if you choose to visit. I've been told the number is getting very, very low in terms of the amount of seats remaining in the lower bowl, and that number is shrinking by the hour. We've surpassed our previous season ticket sales record by the hundreds and we aren't done yet. Mind you, this is with faculty, staff, and students paying for theirs for the first time ever.

However, if you are a visiting fan and you don't mind getting harrassed for 60 minutes of hockey by a bunch of hooligans, maybe i can help you out. I have 2 tickets in 115, row d.

Re: ECAC West 2012-2013 Predictions

"Good luck" with anyone thinking that TM is going to work with them to get them their preferred seats... That is not their business model at all; TM tries to foist-off all the bad seats first, so the casual walk-ups will be happy when they land in better seats at the same price on short notice.

Seen it a million times at D-1 venues.

Re: ECAC West 2012-2013 Predictions

I don't think it will "effect" anyone - it may affect some people, but effect (which means cause when used as a verb), I don't think so :D

1. Thanks so much for your help, right? No doubt all the unemployed English majors on these feeble D-3 threads stood up and cheered for that one.
2. Furthermore, go pound sand... It's a distinction without a difference: this thread is supposed to be about the ECAC-W, so why are you on it in the first place..? Doesn't Norwich have a thread for you to nit-pick upon?
3.This is certainly not a spelling/usage bee. If neither you nor your ilk have anything relevant to say about hockey, perhaps you can all go out and harvest some parsnips or something. You guys are all so very tiresome.

Guess we really hit a nerve NUprof. I am like you, we went to school to learn and use what we learned. Sometimes the misuse of words just gets under my skin. My other thought, this is a DIII forum, correct?

1. Lighten up

3. If you are a UMaine fan why are you sullying yourself on a DIII Board?
4. You seem to have as much of a sense of humor as a rock - most people get my sense of humor
5. People who post in public should be literate, especially on a board that is oriented towards a college sport. (Of course, DI is more of a professional sport)
6. Lighten up

Combining the championships is already working. Its bringing Dl fans to the Dlll threads.

Prof, I could say a lot of things, but I'll condense them all into a single question: would you have publicly corrected a stranger's usage in person? From what I've inferred about your persona via your posts, I would venture to guess that wouldn't have done that in a million years. That sort of thing is generally considered to be rude, and I'm quite sure that you're rarely rude when dealing with people face-to-face... I could be wrong about you, but I'd bet I'm not, and I'm of the opinion that participants in internet forums should adhere to the reasonable standards of reciprocal respect that are expected in real life.

As far as my love of D-3 hockey, suffice it to say that I haven't missed a UC home-game since the program's inception, and I've seen a good many of their games on the road as well. Sure, I'm a huge Maine fan too, but there's plenty of room in my heart for both schools; I like apples as well as oranges.

If a perfect-literacy requirement was in place for these boards, you might be the only one posting, and how amusing would that be, even to you? We are all just exchanging opinions and information as best we can. Most of the posts I read here are intelligible enough, as fraught with grammatical errors as they might be.

Having said the above, rest assured that I've learned a lot about how D-3 works from your posts, most of which eschew the red pen and tend to enlighten us stinkards, and I hope to read more of them in the future.

Enjoy your season.

Re: ECAC West 2012-2013 Predictions

As I said before - lighten up. I was pointing out that the affect/effect error is annoying. I didn't mean anything personal by it. I happen to enjoy tossing a few good natured barbs at people when I see errors like that. It was not meant as critically as I think you thought. Yes, I know you are a Utica follower - I happen to be a fan of all of D3 hockey, and am likely to post in lots of places besides Norwich/ECAC East threads, and I was pointing out that we shouldn't be restricted as to where we can post.

I guess your reaction is a good object lesson in the fact that humor and irony don't always play well on the internet. It's just that I saw effect the fans, and I had this flash in my brain...If I've offended you, I'm sorry no offense was intended, just going for a cheap laugh

Deep breaths everybody. Relax. Imagine endless supplies of beer materializing out of thin air.

Read this in Morgan Freeman's voice.

You did. My work here is done.

Re: ECAC West 2012-2013 Predictions

this stuff seems to happen on these boards in the off season.................LETS GET IT ON:D

Oh man, you're going to have to clarify something on this one... The Marvin Gaye version of that phrase, or the MMA version? :D

Thankfully, pucks will be dropping SOON!!!

Disclaimer - Nothing intended... just propagating the silliness of the off-season.

If it's the Marvin Gaye version, there's other issues to deal with. :D I'm guessing he's channeling Mills Lane.

If you've got a problem with the Prof....the problem's probably not the Prof. That's all I have to say on that.

All this tells me is that we're getting close to the season.

Re: ECAC West 2012-2013 Predictions

Well ya know, in hindsight I have witnessed some MMA bouts where both versions appear to apply. Then again, there are women in my past where both versions would apply as well... sometimes simultaneously. (ouch)

Where was that countdown to the season ticker posted? I think we need it here too for some perspective (maybe every thread!).

If you had inserted a comma where you should have, this sentence would have made some literal sense, instead of negating itself. (I'll let the lack of a period go unmentioned.)

;)

Has hockey season started yet?

Your right :D.

Actually it needed two periods and an a capital N to make sense.

Just don't talk about mute points when you mean moot points. That's another one of my pet peeves.
